WHAT ARE THE BEST MUFFLERS TO RACE WITH INTO THE TEN AND NINE SECOND RANGE IM GOING WITH A 3.5 X PIPE SETUP WITH DOWN SPOUTS BEFORE REAR AXLE. IM LOOKING AT GOING WITH THE SPINTECH SPORTSMAN STREET XL 3.5 INCH MUFFLERS, I HEARD THESE ARE RESTRICTIVE BUT SPINTECH'S WEBSITE SHOWS THE FLOW THE BEST OUT OF EVERYONE ELSE. NEED SOME OPINIONS ON THIS. THE CAR I'M BUILDING IS MY 70 GP SHOULD BE IN THE TENS ON MOTOR.

Dynomax Ultraflo welded.

Give me a thumbs up, tell me "Nice Car!", but for god's sake, don't call it an Impala.

9sec, how quiet you want it? The 5" by 8" by 11" Straightline Performance or Magnaflow 3" units back by the axle would work really well. You have room for them back there?

There's lots of room under there tom. It needs to be somewhat quiet because i also do alot of street racing out here. But care more about not restricting the motor.

You need SOME back pressure from what i understand :P The Dynomax seem to be a really good choice, but skip the Slow masters.
Also I have seen quite a few folks at the Track with those warlock mufflers, you can uncork them right at the muffler for an uninhibited straight pipe.

Magnaflow 14151 (3.5" inlet outlet) 5" by 8" by 14" oval should do pretty well sound wise and will not hurt the flow. Can you fit these?
If you want 3.5", these oval versions will do a "decent" job. Add Torque Tech's new 3.5" tailpipes and it'd be driveable even.

9 Sec, Straightline will have similar mufflers at better prices (I bet). Scott Brown will help you all he can and he is good with race mufflers and their applications.
SpinTechs are sort of loud and our testing (with a SF 600 bench) indicated they did not do so well flowing air. Not saying this is the entire indication of how they will work but so far, most mufflers that flowed the most air tended to make the most power.

9sec, sorry for the late reply, this one was farther down the string and I missed it.
I saw you mentioned the UltraFlo ovals on another string and they too are great choices. All of the straight through mufflers (Magnaflow, Goerlich's, UltraFlo and Straightline Performance) act about the same. Offset-offset changes the flow somewhat but I assume you'll be using the straight through ones anyway.
You ask what I thought of their mufflers; I think you mean the Spin Techs? We never got to test the bigger 3.0" diameter ones at the track. Sound wise, they were pretty loud.

just to let you know. I am running the Dynomax ultra flow welded 3.5" mufflers. So far my best time is 10.31, on motor (never will use n2o). I also have a home made 3.5 X crossover. Just Got in at Englishtown with 90db. It is quiet at the strip but fairly loud on the street, turns a lot of heads. I am happy with the dynomax mufflers. I have the turbos on my true street car (12 sec.) and are really quiet.
Good Luck Mike S
