Default Trans AM show

A new show about the Trans AM October 2nd I believe will air on TVs volicity station? Anyone have any other info that on this show? Previews show mostly TA retro remake cars, curious if they will have true classic TAs also. Looking forward to this one.

I saw the ads MA.
After watching the latest offerings from Velocity, I'm prepared to be disappointed.

I think it was discussed on here awhile ago. My belief is that is about the guys who turn camaros into trans ams. Not really my cup of tea but if it renews interest in trans ams I guess that cant be a bad thing.

Maybe, I tend to think the passing of Burt Bandit Reynolds, will have a bigger impact on Trans AM interest.

There was a show on PBS (I believe...) not too long ago. It was about the history of the history of automobiles, and the people behind them. I kinda liked the show. When the muscle car era came along (about when I experienced life first hand...) everything was screwed up!!!
They had John Delorean showing up to a street race in something like a 64 Buick Skylark...totally missed that deal fact wise. He got little "good" press. They mentioned a couple of times about his "groovy" clothes and life style, and mentioned a couple of times he was gone from his job to get plastic surgery...Sooo, I wonder IF any of that show was close to factual... Would like to see the T/A show, since I bought mine new!!!and still have it!!!

I saw the show I think you are talking about. It was a 2 or 3 part series. I thought it was pretty good. Im not sure I saw the last episode though. I cut out after the 50's era.

The show will only be good, if they take a total POS car, and have to rebuild it completely in 8 days, because the owner stands to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars, if it's not done to concourse standards.

I just purchased a 78 TA this past Winter, that needs a few things, so I’d love to see a complete ground up resto of a “real Pontiac TA” not the resto version, but I’ll still watch it because I enjoy car specific shows.

LOL, I have long awaited for a car show in the same avenue as 'this old house'. Where they make a season out of a car restoration. Unfortunately these shows are made as entertainment and most people only have a 20 min attention span (me included when watching most tv shows). I have no need for drama and suspense when it comes to swapping a transmission. I guess the one show that comes close is Dan whats his name, with chop cut rebuild.

This is the press release photo for the show, which pretty tells you what it's going to be about...putting a pseudo - Trans Am body on a Camaro.

I guess it is absurd that a Firebird and Camaro be based off the same platform.
The Trans Am is quickly becoming the most popular and recognizable Pontiac. It is about time the star of the Pontiac world gets its own show.

If they were to build a "new Trans Am", say this year, it would be on the Camaro platform. If you recall Camaros and Firebirds had been built on the same assembly line for years. Hey, I hauled both out of the GM Plant in St. Therese Quebec from 91 to 93 when we lost our terminal and our jobs...... they were built on the same assembly line. And the last of last of both from '91 on were built only in Canada.

So I don't understand why everyone says if it's made today from a 2018 Camaro, it's not really a Firebird. That is only true as the Pontiac model line is gone. But if Buick or Chevrolet "just happened" to build them, and use the Pontiac emblem, they would still use this new Camaro body. It's what is inside that makes them separate, not the body. The recreations are totally stripped of anything Camaro, and then "Pontiac TA" parts are made and used to build a "new modern" Trans AM. Unfortunately Chevy engines would probably still be used exclusively.
