Stock push rod length 670 heads
Working on a 67 WZ 400 with 670 heads. Searching the forum I found that there were two stock push rod lengths used in 1967. The 8.715" that was used in 66 and earlier engines and later the 9.145" length was used.
My question is what was the stock length push rod was used in the 670 head? Need to buy a push rod length checker. Comp Cams has them sized 7.800" to 8.800" or 8.800" to 9.800". Due to the 8.800" minimum or maximum length, one checker won't work for both sizes. Couldn't find an answer using the search feature. Jim

You want the 9.145 as the 389/421 heads where still use in early 67 big cars (B body) and used the shorter rods.

The 670 head has the later valve angle and spacing, so it uses the later 9.145" pushrods. I run 670s on a '67 400, and used Comp Magnum pushrods for 67-later engines. I checked pushrod length with an adjustable checker and solid lifter and checking springs.
