Default 1972 GTO Poverty Caps #488630

I met 74 SD455 Formula yesterday at the Indian Uprising in St. Charles, IL yesterday. I learned that I have the incorrect Caps on my car. I thought I did my homework on this and was tough to hear but none the less I appreciate his honesty and listening to why I thought I had the correct ones. Looks like I will be looking for a very nice set soon if anyone has any or leads to any.

Thanks,

Jody Traylor

Do you know what the correct ones look like as I have a set of the ones that were for a 73 car that has the offset arrow head in the center of a cap that looks like baby moons. If these are correct for you I have what you need & they are great.

In the pictures I posted about, my car is the blue car and the ones on the orange car is what I need. They kinda look the same but the centers are slightly different and at the ends. Fooled me but now that I can see them side by side I can tell the difference.

Jim,

I appreciate your help. I can not lie, I was not real happy...LOL......but at the same time I know that I do not know everything so I started trying to research it again at the show. I emailed Lloyd today and from afar it is hard to tell as I was talking to him when I was doing the car about going to poverty caps and he did not notice either but with some better close up pictures he agreed with you that I did not have the right ones.

It was nice to meet you and glad I was able to see your HO and the Formula SD. Cool stuff.

Jody

Thanks. They are beautiful.......but they are the same as what I have now. They are pretty close to the ones I actually need. Here is an auction on ebay that has the exact one I need.

Pat, Biggest difference is around the center of the cap, later ones are tapered '72 caps aren't they have more of a step? Pretty hard to tell without them being side-by-side!

Lyn.

I told Jody what after the show car looked great! He said the caps were wrong. I said who cares...

I know I am probably getting a little anal.....now that I know it stays at the front of my mind to make right. I will wait for the right set to come along.

Thanks,

Jody
