I would guess if you were driving over 10K miles / year high lifts may well be an issue. FWIW I ran .680” for almost 5,000 street miles, mostly city but a fair amount of 3K plus RPM highway runs including to Norwalk and back a few times, and the guides showed no wear on a tear down. I was pleasantly surprised.

Max lift was .6435. From my stand point. Max lift, peak HP RPM and duration go hand in hand.. So if you want .602 max lift drop the peak HP RPM to 5800 which also wants less duration.

In a running engine with valve train deflection and hydraulic lifter bleed down at rpm actual lift at the valve is probably closer to .600”. Assuming the cam did lift the valve the theoretical .6435” I still wouldn’t loose too much sleep over it as far as longevity is concerned. Send it!

Fwiw…..not been mentioned but should be considered

I’ve seen plenty of forged rod, cast crank setups making decent power and having fun until the stock cast crank breaks in half…

There is NO free lunch !

I’ve never yet seen a factory cast crank snap in half if it had
1) passed a Mag test.

2) not been subjected to well over 600 hp.

3) not been pounded on by detonation.

4) subjected to a combination of 2 and 3!

5) not been cut down from 3.250” to 3.00” mains.

6) the same as the above but not run with a Olds thrust bearing and had been welded up.
