Default Adding oil pan dipstick

I need move my dipstick to the oil pan. How far down from the pan rail should I add the bung and what’s a good source for one? Milodon 8” pan.
Most bungs I see are short to sit flat, not at an angle.

I'll take a picture the one I added to a Canton pan in the morning. It's definitely welded at a 30°-45° angle. And if I remember it's about an inch below the pan rail.

Skip told me how to use the stock one with the canton pan.Put masking tape on the inside rail, push the dipstick against it to get witness marks and drill a 1/2 inch hole as I remember.Worked perfect.FWIW,Tom

This is what I used and did for a dipstick on the Canton oil pan. I bought a 1/4" coupler cut it at 45 degs or even 60 degs and welded to side of oil pan. I bought a Lokar universal dipstick. The oil stick is adjustable on the handle by cutting to whatever length you want. Placement of the bung is key. Sorry don't have measurements. Reason didn't use the canton one was because of headers. That another thing to consider.

I made mine from a 1/4" pipe coupling. Then added a 1/4" to 3/8" inverted flare fitting. I made the dipstick tube itself from 3/8" brake line and cut a stock dipstick once I determined length. I was able to bend the 3/8" tube to route between headers easy enough..... Pay no attention to how dirty the motor looks..lol....

On a Canton pan you can use a stock one using the middle tube that bolts to the main cap or the one in the factory windage tray if using that. Or bolt one to the Spotts/IA tray. You just have to drill a hole in the Canton pan baffle.

Sight glass sounds cool. Is it gonna be in an accessable location?

My car is a tube chassis, so yes, it'll be easy to see...IMO, if its any sort of a serious hot rod, there is a place where it wouldnt be too hard to view it...

Cool, I think it would suck to find an easy to see spot on my car, stock frame with 2" headers. I guess It would be visible from laying under the car
