Default Formula got a new hood

Some of you will like it others will hate it .

Couldn’t pass it up since it matched the color of my car.

I had planned on putting on a Trans Am hood so I could run a RPM intake to see if you could get in the 11’s

I did not butcher this formula hood it was done at least 15 or 20 years ago per the guy I got it from. He bought it that way with a 75 Trans Am.

My formula hood is currently stashed away and someday will return to the car.

Here’s a few pictures with two different Shakers on it. Need to paint one of them to match the rest of the car.

I always thought the Formula hoods with a shaker was kinda cool looking. I wouldn't cut an original hood to do it, but if I found one already cut like you did I have no issues what so ever!

Works for me...I agree, I would not cut a hood to do it, but since it's already done it, it works!!!

I like the silver shaker too, it goes well with the grilles.

What about the Formula front fender "vents" I see there? It would be weird to make a T/A into a TA/formula hood and add that specific thing. Unless they wanted to put just as many scoops and vents as possible.

Looks good Ponch! .... errr... I mean Gary!

Pretty good color match!

Kind of reminds me of the trunk lid I found on the side of the road that matches the paint on my TA- only I never got up the nerve to bolt it on!

I wouldn't have done it to my 79 Formula. The dual intakes for the Formula and the shaker hood scoop for the TAs are what made each it's own standout model Firebird.

It just doesn't look right to me with the two together on the same hood.
