Default Pontiac powered land speed car closing today on BAT

I didn’t notice until this morning that this car was Pontiac powered. Turbo’d 4 banger out of an early Tempest- 3 speed transaxle too?

Looks pretty cool and the no reserve price is still downright cheap!

Front wheel drive, too. Pretty interesting.

edit: Looking through the pictures, it appears to have a conventional transmission connected to a quick change differential, not a transaxle. According to the time slips it's pretty fast too - nearly 200mph.

I'm getting "clock / date Time Error" notice pages on any bringatrailer page.
So someone may get the smoking deal on that speedster if others can't get on site to bid on it.

Yes. Front wheel drive.
Agree on the transmission and quick change.
Did you notice Stuart the carb location? I saw the fuel line for what
appeared to be a updraft airplane carburetor designed for boost.

Would have likes to see the intake plumbing from the carb to the intake ports.

A lot of aircraft gauges in the dash, too. Either the builders worked in the aero industry or they had access to a good surplus store.

Sold for $35,000. There was a big flurry of bids in the last half hour or so of the auction.

Guessing the name came from people saying "Wow, that's really something!". That is a very unique vehicle.
