Here. Might as well be, no one really acknowledges or cares about them and they're close enough to the '77-79 B-body.

Yeah, don't know why they cut this section off at '79 when '80-81 are essentially the same cars? They were still available with Pontiac V8s- albeit only the 301 and lowly 265.

I'm Pontiac guy at heart but a 350 4bbl 350 Chevy was a WAY better engine than those gutless low deck Pontiacs.
My buddy had a new 80-81 TA with a turbo 301 and I drove him nuts because my dads 80 riviera with an Olds 350 4bbl would kill it bigtime.

The 305 which was available in the Bonneville made no more power than the 301... and it was a Chevy.
The reality is that all of the motors sucked at that time. The Turbo TA was actually one of the highest horsepower options of that period. There were V8s that were churning out an awesome 120 HP and barely 200 lb.ft. of torque. Most puny 4 bangers are doing better than that these days, with the good ones doubling that power easily. Even the 350 diesel only made a hair over 200 lb.ft. How is that even possible?

Not sure how your buddy with the Turbo TA (200 hp and 340 lb.ft of torque) was getting beat by a heavier Riv with the Olds 350 (160 hp and 270 lb.ft)? Are you sure it was a Turbo and not just the regular 4bbl. 301?

A friend of mine had 3 turbo T/A's back in the early 90's & they ran pretty good. They got great gas mileage & weren't fast but they were better then most of the gutless wonders out at that time. If your friend was getting beat by a riv. I'd look into it to make sure your friend knew how to drive or you need to make sure it was a turbo T/A.
