Did you figure out how to make the next letter you type a capital? There should be a up arrow on the alphabet screen used to type, that up arrow will make the next letter a cap.Tom

The reason I asked the question is because when I looked thru my list of log-in & PW info, I didn't find Google. Only found gmail. The PW is what I have to type in to open my chromebooks.

This is an answer I Googled up, to the question.

"...Your Gmail password is the same as your Google account password. ..."

But, here's what another site said:

"...Think of it this way: All Gmail.com accounts are Google accounts, but not all Google accounts are Gmail.com accounts. For example, a user can sign up for a Google account with her @yahoo.com email address..."
I started out with a gmail account very early on, and had it first, then after few years google came out with more stuff and invited me to sign up for a google account to get the rest of the stuff, I don’t recall wanting any of the extra stuff and was in no hurry to sign up, but at some point they sort of merged it all together and left no choice. My password carried over for a while, then one day I was forced to change it, Google accounts or gmail had been hacked or something,

I think it would be pretty difficult at this point to have two google passwords, as in one for google accounts and another one for gmail. They should be the same.

I just tried to open a 2nd gmail account. Could not do it. The site recognized my Chromebook & my original gmail account popped up.

And when I added my cell phone number, a notice came up saying that number was already associated with my other gmail account.

I went ahead & completed the required info. But, after I THOUGHT I had successfully opened another gmail account, I can't find it . ONLY the original shows up. No trace of the new one I thought I'd just created.

i would start the return process as fast as you can.
Not getting adequate reception signal inside your house is a deal breaker.

Also means it probably won't send or receive texts inside your house either.
You can test it using the internet/email text strings that John posted earlier.

Saw before where you said Verizon was a weak signal at your house.
The phone you bought probably has Verizon logo on it and Verizon start up screen.
You need an "un-locked" phone or one with ATT logo.

At my house it is just the opposite - Verizon is the only one that will get a signal.
And it is usually just 1 bar - sometimes 2.
Between me and the nearby neighbors we have tried every service under the sun trying to get a stronger signal.

TJ & I discussed it. So far, Verizon has worked just fine, everywhere EXCEPT inside our house. I think there are actually a larger network of Verizon cell towers in our area than there are AT&T towers. Google results indicate that Verizon has the best rural coverage.

"...It’s no secret that the Verizon coverage map is the gold standard when it comes to wireless coverage..."

Also, this phone DID receive a couple of text messages this morning INSIDE the house. I suppose that MAYBE less signal is required for texts than for calls ???

My Google results seem to indicate that this is the case.

https://blogs.scientificamerican.com...ass-emergency/

This answer gets pretty technical. But the bottom line is that less signal is required to send/receive texts.

PS: The new gmail account I set up is now showing up on my Google account. Don't know why it took so long. I had assumed it would show up almost immediately after setting it up.

Put the phone number before the link with @ after phone number.
1112225555@vtext.com - example

Just for reference sake -
I have Verizon Mobile internet via a borrowed tablet that i "hotspot" with to use my laptop on internet.
My cell phone also uses Verizon Towers.

The "@vtext.com" string works for me
None of the others will work for me - get failure notices in my email.
just passing that on , and curious if others have tried the different combos

Those work for a phone on that network (Verizon, etc)
The one using/sending the @vtext.com doesn't have to be on Verizon.

Know anyone on ATT?
Text him with your computer to his number with @txt.att.net.
(or any of the other networks)

Everybody I know uses Verizon. I'm actually on Comcast down here in FL with my cellphone, but they use Verizon towers.

Good Info for future needs.

I just did another test.
Initiated a TEXT Message from my PHONE - to an email address.
Mobile Internet and WiFi both OFF .

Instead of inserting a telephone number in the TO: line - used an email address.
(reverse engineering)
It sent the text message right to the email address. zippity quick

My mother keeps her Unlimited SIMS card in her tablet and burns up the internet most all day - and most of the evening. She has youtube channels she likes about camping and going off the grid.

So her phone is hardly ever reachable.
I have to email her and tell her to call me.
Then she switches the SIMS back into her phone and calls me.
Now i can send her a text from anywhere, to her email - and tell her to call.
Or just text her email with whatever i need to tell/ask her.
Can't send a long text - just one text page allotment per send.

So definitely learning some new tricks here.
