SFI power bond damper
Anyone have experience with these you would share? I’m building an engine around 750-800 HP then going to spray another 250+ Nitrous. Should I just go ATI instead?

I have a SFI Power Bond damper i bought about 15 years ago. It's performed flawlessly. But my engine only makes 521 HP crankshaft.

I’m using 2 of them on a couple of 455 base engines 550-600 hp. For the hp your wanting to go I think I would get something better. My2¢

I am going to be running a Power Bond damper on my current build of 500-550 HP. It looks like a nice balancer. But I don't think I would trust it at 1000 HP which is what your talking about. I know for a fact that the ATI balancers we ran on the Grocery Getter were flawless for 18 years at over 1000 HP. Never requiring anything. I know the cost and lack of a 4 bolt pulley attachment is an issue for some. But they are the best of the best. No experience with PowerBond at the power level you will be running.

Summit doesn’t have them listed as made in America anymore. I know they had them tagged as made in the USA in the past. But it isn’t there anymore. They do list Tci, innovators west end fluid damper as made in the USA.

I went with a Romac on my current build…. Seems like a decent unit. It did require some fitting as it was too tight on my aftermarket crank

Guys there is a fella selling power bond dampers on marketplace for $45. Not sure if it’s legit or what.

My ATI I bought in the late 80s early 90s. It is two piece and does take a 3 bolt Chevy pattern. I had to shorten the hub where it hits the crank gear as it kicked the pulley out 1/8" perfect now. I also had to enlarge the crank bolt recess to take a normal crank bolt washer as it was too small..
I found a Chevy pulley support ring that goes outside the pulleys like our Pontiacs have to use as a template for the holes. RARE can drill their aluminum pulleys for both patterns. I think the Power Bond have an SFI and a non SFI one.,sounds cheap for an SFI one.

That’s the one 1056 if those are not blems or something like that it’s a great deal. When I got a couple for $130.00 each I thought that was a great deal.

There is a difference between China SFI and USA made SFI parts. I would not put a Power Bond on a go cart.
ATI 3 bolt or a BHJ 4 bolt. |

Power bond is made in Australia not China. Even says so on the box. They are a division of Dayco. Day o headquarters are in Michigan.

I have had a Power Bond and PP balancer over the years, non SFI. Both moved, junk IMO. Maybe their SFI ones are better but they left a bad impression.
Saving a few bucks is not worth your engine. I ended up putting my stock one on the 455 that Dan Whitmore inspected, degreed, added timing marks to and sleeved the seal surface. Still on the engine. |

It's always a good idea to degree-in the balancer, no matter what brand, even ATI. I then put a small witness mark on the hub and outer ring to check later after use. Power Bond looks like a stock style balancer and seems to have a decent reputation. But I mark them just in case.
