Hello, ALL
Love this forum but have not had much responce yet.
Realy itching to start resto, but not with out a sold plan. First frame off ever, and i must plan everything. Hope someone out their can help with questions. For starts, need a hood 1971-72 GTO (option) ,Or a quality fiberglass one. Also I have GM quarters inner-outer-wells deck pannel, but can't find repro rear body panel. The pannel that conects quarters behind bumper.
Any information would help thank Steve.

Steve I don't believe anyone repo's that part you will have to find a 70 72 lemans parts car and remove the parts you need is it the part the bumper brackets mount to or do you need the trunk floor as well

There was a guy somewhere here on the board who was selling a 72 GTO hood... but now I can't find the post.... I'll keep looking... Maybe you should post a request for a hood in the Lobby. But be prepared for CCASS to quickly move it to the parts request forum.

Good Luck!

The '72 Hoods with the scoops are hard to find. I found one thru hemmings for my endura '72 convertible and it had to be shipped from california (quite a few years ago). The original one had that pitting that indicates rust between the stiffeners and the skin. You will either have to get lucky or be willing to pay what it takes for a good one. That item makes these cars hard to restore. But damm they look tough!

I know that Year One sells a fiberglass 71-72 GTO hood along with the ram air pans. No sure if Ames or PY sell them.

I checked that site and they show a 71-72 glass hood with a price. Next to the 71-72 steel hood there is no price and it just says $CALL. Does that indicate some problem with availibilty? Maybe some one could $CALL and find out the situation. Anyone out there had any experience using the glass or nonOEM steel hood? In the past hoods and fenders have been a real problem for the '72s.

I went through this restoring my 72 GTO. I found a good used one off of a 72 Le Mans with/endura option. If you still need one, I have the one that came with my car. It is repairable, it has the typical rust in the front off the hood, I was going to have it repaired, prime it and sell it. Let me know.thekraigster@aol.com
