Would someone have an original vacuum operated trunk release actuator (the release assembly in the trunk)? I'd like to have a couple of pictures of one to see if I have the right one. Having a bit of trouble installing it and think I might not have the correct piece.

Nobody here has a factory power trunk on a 66 full size? Wow, I thought those weren't that uncommon.

Give it a little more time, traffic in this section can be slow and not everyone has a decked out 1966 car.
I had one in my old 1971 Catalina, it was just an electric solenoid that pushed against the trunk latch mechanism with a pushbutton control mounted in the glove box; I wasn't aware they even had a remote trunk release option in 1966 so it may not be as common as you think. |

'66 A-Body had two versions of the rear deck lid release, I will assume these parts were the same for B-Body but I don't know for sure.
Some of the early built '66s were equipped with the same pull cable used in '65. Then there was a change over to a Vacuum Actuated Release. When I was researching this I found that GM offered this across the board for all models and each division had slight differences in designs. Here is the correct Actuator used by Pontiac for '66. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had a feeling they would differ between A & B Body.
Yes, the one shown is A-Body in my LeMANS. Looking around on the web I did see a few listed for B-Bodies but not sure if they were correct.

I have a trunk opener in my son's 66 Bonneville, it was very easy to install. I wish I could take a picture of it, but the car is in storage and can't be accessed until April. Trust me, it was very easy to install, but I think I had to put a slight bend in the rod from the key cylinder to make it align up.

Well if nothing else if you think of it when the car is out of storage I'd like to see a picture still. Thanks!

Hi Carl,
I'd be glad to help! I just installed the remote deck lid option in my '66 Grand Prix. Here are 2 pix but I know I have more, one with a close up and part number if needed. Let me know what you specially want. Ken ![]() ![]() Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk

That helps but yes, there is another angle I'd like to see. That picture you have of it on the white carpet, showing the actuator and the lock cylinder. Do you have a picture exactly from the other side showing the two mounting bolt ears, where it bolts to the latch and latch support area?
Thanks! |

Of course I haven't found that side of the actuator in a picture yet.... Here's a few though. One shows it bolted to the striker bracket.

Perfect, thank you SO much, that is exactly what I was looking for. I'll take a look tomorrow and get a friend of mine to look at one that he has that might be correct.

I know this post has been quiet for a year but I just want to say thanks go barrierblue66 for his help. Because of his pictures I was able to find the correct unit. I did a bit of a cleanup/overhaul on it to get it working better and installed it this week. Works perfect!
Thanks again. And if anyone cares what one of these units looks like opened up, this is it. I forgot to take a pic before I put the piece I labeled "cam" back in but otherwise this is how it looks stripped apart.
