Here's another 69 Trans AM convertible recreation. FWIW I love these cars. They don't have to be perfect IMO and they look killer. IMHO, cars like this that don't have RAIV engines really take a few steps down when they have RAIV stickers on them. There's a reserve (which prolly won't be met) and the steering wheel sucks, but for the most part it is a cool car... minus the poser RAIV stickers.

67 GTO with no engine in CO at $1K NR. Title is sketchy, but if you're willing to do a little legwork and it's not a stolen car you should be ok. That being said, it drives the price way down. Original CA black plates car, so prolly minimal rust. A really great start on a project IMO.

69 Grand Prix SJ with a 428 and no title in Nebraska. BIN $3K. The engine is worth that, plus it has a wood wheel and a tach, so highly optioned. Don't blink... will be gone quick IMO.

1929 Pontiac coupe with a supercharged Pontiac 350 at NR $16K in Indiana. Not sure why you'd pick a 350 for this car?

Here's an interesting car... 70 Firebird race car. There's no description in the ad, which would explain why this car was built this way. Is it just me, or are race cars built with automatics? Is there a manual class that requires a clutch? Stupid high at $70K in Texas. Not sure why someone would pour that much money into this car, though it is very cool.

Based on the stickers all over the car, which are from legitimate racing/autocross/track time series.... I'd say someone poured all the money into it because it was their race car, and they wanted it to go faster.

A lot of racers can relate to that slippery slope. Been there / done that myself.

Perhaps the builder moved on to a different hobby, or a faster car....

You want a manual trans for road racing or autocross. Automatics kinda suck for that sort of thing.

I thought the current F1 cars didn't have a clutch?

They have a clutch, just not a clutch pedal.

The clutch is operated automatically when the driver changes gear via the paddles on the steering wheel.

The driver does control it manually to get the car rolling at the start, pit stops, etc., but it's controlled by a hand lever.

I did not phrase my question very well, your answer does highlight my point. The clutch is operated automatically when driving at speed.

81 Pontiac Firebird T/A in NY at $12K NR CA zero rust car. Nice red interior. Chebby 350, but looks new. This would be a great start on a 70 - 73 clone, though the T-Tops weren't available then.
