^ That '65 could be a decent car for someone but he's very optimistic at a nearly $50,000 asking price.

Yeah, I'd hate to see the price on the '64 GP behind it or the T/A beside it.

This 68 NM GTO didn't sell at $4.5K... I'm kinda shocked it didn't sell. The WS HO engine with RA exhaust manifolds, endura and fenders and what looks like a redone interior with a nice dash is worth more than $4.5K IMO. Listed again in MA.

I agree on the '68. I believe it's well worth the buy-in...but a lot of work for sure.

I like that Formula. Looks like it even has the original exhaust.

The 68 GTO HO project car is back at $5K BIN. Based on my limited research, there were under 7000 WS GTO 400 HO engine blocks produced. The HP Pontiac numbers are a joke as the Firebird HP numbers were reduced because of the body weight. I'm not sure if all 68 400 HO's came with Ram Air exhaust? The cc rating for the 16 vs. 31 heads is the same at 72cc, so I'm not sure if there's any chamber difference. Anyway, this car has a NM engine, hideaways and what looks like a new interior. At $5K the ROI has to be worth it. If I had a 68 Lemans I'd consider buying this car just for the parts. While that's sacrilege, it's the truth. This is a good deal and I'll be surprised if it doesn't sell again.

For those that don't know it, the Trans Am's and Z28's were the coolest cars towards the late 80's. They were slow as hell, but they looked cool... very cool. A lot of us Boomers are getting to the age where we may buy the car of our dreams. I was told by some insiders that the Bandit Trans AM's are commanding big money now... maybe a trend?
I owned this car (not "this" car but one like it) in 1984: These are fun cars and any 68 - 70 400's will drop right in. |

Very nifty car! A few things cross my mind though...
they say it’s a 64, did they have the OHC engine ready (even in preproduction) at that time? The engine only went into production in fall 1965. Same goes for the rallye II wheels, they were only released in the fall of 66. Even the shift knob is a 66-68 unit If the car was really built in 64 are these items later mods by Pontiac or were they done at a later private owner resto?
