Lightbulb Moving on...my new cruise/car show ride

We have passed on our GTO to our eldest son, Mike in Texas, and the TA to our youngest son, Russ, in Oklahoma for their future care and feeding (93 octane premium ). Since Mike is now officially a senior citizen and Russ will be in a few years it seemed only right that they share in the fun that these great cars have brought to us . I expect both guys to show up on the Forums in order to continue the family legacy of hot rodding anything that has an engine .

In the meantime, I have been searching far & wide for a suitable cruise night/car show entry for my use that doesn't require the $$$ and attention that the 11 second/120 mph classics demanded. Failing to find my dream Pontiac: a '54 Star Chief hardtop with a straight 8, leather, and the desirable dual range hydro for under $30K; I had to settle for this '65 Buick Skylark Sport Wagon .

Before I hear a lot of whining about this being a Pontiac site- at least it's a GM car .

It's okay, Les- some of the best of us have driven Buick Sport Wagons.

I drove this '65 in the Bar Harbor, ME Fourth of July parade a few years back. I was flanked by my friends driving their immaculate GS', but everyone was oohing and aahing over the wagon in the middle.

Neat wagon Les.

Super-clean, I know you always strive to buy the cleanest vehicles so you end up with a nice ride for less money in the end.

I never knew they offered that roof on Buick wagons that's like the roof used on the Olds Vista wagons.

Congrats on your new ride, and congrats to your sons on theirs too.

You're a great Dad.

Bart

Definitely the same one Les now owns. Has the 340 that Les mentioned, everything else looks to be spot-on too.

Thanks, Jeremy . I'm getting the same reaction as I drive this "crossover" around SoCal. It gets more thumbs up than the Goat or the TA ever did!

Question, the taillights on the wagon you drove in the pic wrap around the rear quarters and appear to be different when compared to my half moon shaped units that are only visible from the rr. Could the wagon you drove be a '68 up?

Hey Tom,
I thought the same thing when I first viewed the PVC connection between the top radiator hose halves. Looking closer I noticed that it actually has a purpose-the PVC section rests upon the top alternator strap, supporting the hose and keeping it from chafing against the metal, .

Great minds think alike .

Thanks for the kind words, buddy .

Like you, I thought that the Olds Cutlass was the only "Sceni-Cruiser" as Greyhound called their observation window section on the top of select buses years ago. My sons are losing their minds at this time . They have always felt that I would live to 105, they would only make it to 75, and they would never get their hands on the Pontiacs until they were too to enjoy them . Old age and treachery once again triumphs over youth and enthusiasm . The cars will never be out of my life since I expect a high number of emails and phone calls to ask what this or that is for and where is it located, type questions, which I look forward to . I'll still be involved with the cars, but no longer need to lay on concrete under them as did when I first worked on my cars around 1955 . I'll enjoy their new rides slowly draining their 401Ks instead of mine .

We have a plan to attend the '17 POCI Convention with both cars, have them both judged, drag race them both, and get a great on-track pic of each car with each of us behind the wheel on the banking @ Texas Motor Speedway .

That's the car! This is my first experience with this auction site and a very positive one at that. Scroll down to where the bids timed out and you will see I was second highest bidder when the highest bidder's bid failed to reach the seller's reserve. Bat then furnishes the top bidders with the seller's contact info in case a sale could then be brokered among the bidders and the seller, saving the normal 5% buyer's premium . The seller called me and we agreed on a new price below what I had initially bid. Mike drove his new GTO 550 miles round trip to Paso Robles with me riding shotgun and I drove the Buick home last Thursday.

Arrow Survivor, plus condition...

Original used condition plus newer matching carpet thru-out, rebuilt ST300 20K miles ago, completely NEW drum brake system less than 5K ago, newer 2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust system w/large case Flows (I think) which doesn't resonate, but has a nice tone, a fresh '67 Buick 340 which replaced the original 300 V-8, and a poorly masked, but beautiful years old Sea Foam Green paint job. Additionally, one of the previous owners changed out the original narrow 14" Buick Rallys for the later, wider 15" units .
