Looking for suggestions for replacing unknown make tri-y headers currently in car. Even with a mini starter, clutch linkage is barely functional. Engine is a 40 over 455 w/ 66 tri-power, CC extreme energy 224 cam, wide ratio muncie, 11 daul friction centerforce clutch with steel flywheel. 3.31-1 posi. Street with occasional track use.

thanks in advance

I've had no problems with Hooker and Headmen headers.

HO exhaust manifolds would be an alternative and are less hassle with a 4-speed car. Back them up with a 2-1/2" exhaust system and they perform on par with three-tube headers.

HO exhaust manifolds are a thought... not sure because the car also has 3" mandrel bent exhaust from collectors to tail pipe tips.

Hey Tom! I run a set of Hooker Comps ( 10 yrs old) and a friend of mine just installed a set of Headmans on a 68 GTO. No probs with linkage on the 4 speed. They are a pain to get in but once in, no probs with the linkage.

Ditto to the HO manifold suggestion. You could get new head pipes made. I believe the re-pop HO manifolds come in 2.5". Just another option.
