Is there a bellhousing alternative to the American Powertrain Pontiac cast one?
I spoke to American Powertrain on it and they seemed to imply it was a "special" design for there hydraulic clutch. I ordered a complete kit from American Powertrain and 4 months and 3 promise dates later still no bell housing, and I am number 13 on the list to getting one. Guess they sold a bunch of kits knowing they didn't have the bellhousing. I have not installed the kit, so I don't know if this bell housing is special in some way, or if another will work fine. I know they want the housing dial aligned.

I don’t know what’s special about it. The hydraulic clutch will work with a factory bellhousing or an aftermarket. You just route the hydraulic line through the hole where the clutch fork would normally go.

I used the hyd bearing in a stock and a McLeod bell with no issues.Tom

^^^ This Transam400. Summit has the lakewood 15100 available. They come with a motor plate. There SFI approved. Quicktime is another nice unit. I would get yourself an SFI unit for safety.

Quicktime takes up less space in the trans tunnel.Tom

I feel that the Quicktime also is easier to dial in. Mine were within specs with stock dowel pins in the street car and in the modified dirt car. The previous Lakewood took a lot of work to get it dialed in.

I assume people used the Quicktime RM-8070 bell housing, says it works for both the TKO and TKX?

I ordered a Quicktime Bellhousing, should be here this week. If not the entire AP kit is going back for full refund.
I will warn people about buying a kit from american powertrain, they are back logged 100s of bell housing right now. I spoke to the marketing manager at american power train, she in no uncertain terms told me they are still selling kits knowing they cannot fulfill the order and will leave the customer unable to install. Indicated they need to continue to sell kits to keep the doors open, which is understandable, but to not inform people of the issues is misleading. They could let you know they cannot get aluminum bell housings and can offer a steel unit at 850 dollars, then customer could make an informed decision as to purchase or not.

I bought a QuickTime for my TKX swap, dialed in perfect, no offset dowels needed. I originally ordered the cast aluminum bellhousing but had so many stress cracks and unfinished stress risers I sent it back and got the QuickTime. I was concerned on the strength of those off shore casted bellhousings.

I found the Quicktime Bellhousing RM-8070 on amazon for $300 under the typical price, last one. It's being sold and shipped by Amazon. I bought it, arrives tomorrow and was shipped. I am not aware of fake Quicktime bellhousings, I hope there isn't such a thing, but I will inspect carefully. Fingers crossed.
