Congrats!
Regal Red(?), imho, one of the best exterior colors on a '65 Impalla SS.
Glad you could purchase the car & retrieve it from such precarious "storage".

Nice find!

My buddy in high school had a twin to yours. Great car but the Michigan winters did it in, the frame rusted and broke at the rear of the fender to rocker panel area.

Yes, your correct.
I also don't remember the console looking like that.

Please post up some pics when you get the moss and dirt off the body. It looks like the body is straight and may clean up pretty darn good. Many years ago I bought a 65 GTO that looked allot like that out of a barn in the same color. After lots of time with a pressure washer it cleaned up nice enough to drive and enjoy for a year until a young guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse. 65 full size Chevy's were good looking cars.

Best friend had one in that same color with black interior back in the late 60's. 396, 4 speed......Great car. Ended up running it in SS/H. I will say we went through a lot of clutches in that car....lol!

Nice find, good luck with it! In Nicholson, PA there used to be a small Buick dealer there, long gone but the small windowed show room is still there. Inside is a beautiful I think 67 Impala SS w/ a big block, might be a 427. Blue with a white convertible top. If I were to own a Chevy, it would be something like that. No Camaro or Chevelle.

After getting the seats and carpet out it looks like the console is correct, just missing the clock.

I will post some pics when I get it cleaned up. I've been getting all the rodent nests and droppings out of the interior. Absolutely the nastiest job I've done in a while! I'm surprised that it has any floor left at all!

I have a friend that had the exact twin to that car and it was a ready to go factory red over black 396 4 spd. Only rust was at the trunk lid lip.. The shifter was just as moneypit described. Chrome shifter with the finger pull-up deals.
I was looking for a '68 GTO at the time and had my heart set on that. I really had regrets later when I went back and he'd sold it already. I still think about that one sometimes.
Good score!!

One of the coolest cars ever built.

Big block stick shift 1965 Impala for the win !

Polish it up, do some minor touch ups and fix whatever is needed to make it a solid driver then enjoy it, don’t put it in paint jail.

The 65s are great cars and just the long sleek lines. My parents had 1965 SS 327 with a power glide transmission. Even with the 327 the car would move, I could only imagine what a big block would do to motivate it. The worst thing about the 65 was stopping it. The all drum brakes no power booster single reservoir master cylinder was sketchy to say the least. Cant wait to see pictures with car cleaned up.
