Hi, what year make and model car are you working on? What engine and transmission? I might have one or 2 originals.

Default Reverse Wire Loops. Muncie 4 speed '66 GTO

There was never any attachment of the zipcord to the bellhousing as far as I can remember. The wire routes forward along the sidecover of the transmission and there were 2 thin sheetmetal loops that both secure in separate locations underneath 2 of the bolt heads that held the side-cover to the main case. One loop is lower down and one is further forward and up closer to the bellhousing.

Default clips

Hi Pete, the clips are present on the trans, but from that point up to the firewall, if my memory serves me correctly, I thought there was at least a couple of clips that were attached to the bell housing bolts?...the cable is fairly long and is two piece, as it plugs in near the trans, then again inside the car, on the firewall itself there are clips..(3) that the cable supports itself on before entering the fire grommet hole near the horn relay, any thoughts? the cable would be hanging from the trans to the firewall, if no clips were used

I do not recall any wire retainer clips underneath any of the bellhousing bolts on a 4 speed car. Yes; the wire rests in the 3 "J" hooks running across the firewall.
