Default Back up light switch 4 speed harness

Anyone know where the harness for the back up switch on a 4 speed comes into the car?

This is one installation that has never been clearly shown in any of the "resto" books so information varies. Never being able to find exact wire layout I went off of what was already in the car when I bought it. My BU wires were run under the carpet/console and down through the shift hole. I didn't like this location so I notched the shift boot retaining ring to keep the wires away from pinch points.

I have also seen the sw wires run up the backside of the bell with a upper retaining clip and the dash wires run out firewall to connect behind the bell. IMO this seems more likely how it should be.

Through the bulk head rubber plug use extra hole that exists , attached to the lower front firewall with clip , to the trans. using 2 metal wire clip holders to the trans.

Default Reverse lamp switch wiring.

Factory routing for Muncie 4 speed transmission 66 GTO. Beyond what this photo shows the wire routes up along the top of the bellhousing. There is a plug-in right near the distributor and then the wire goes along the firewall supported in at least 2 locations by formed steel "J" hooks (sometimes rubber coated). Over towards the drivers side of the car and enters the interior thru a round rubber grommet set right next to the fuseblock. (There is a hole drilled in the firewall, this is approximately 7/8"/1" in diameter.)

Thanks Pete looks like the dark green runs inside the cat to pick up a power source where does the light green pick up the lights ? goes through the ribbon in the car.

Conjoined to the main dash wiring harness there is a plug-in shaped like a capitol letter "V" It will have 2 wires in it. A dark green and a lime green wire. The dark green wire is 12 volts "+" via a fuse whenever you have the key turned on. The lime green wire then feeds one lead inside of the ribbon harness running all the way back to a plug-in behind the rear seat & from there inside your trunk alongside the LR quarter-panel back to the the rear of the car. Then thru holes in the trunk floor on both sides (one hole per side) just forward in the trunk floor inside, just above the ledge for the rear bumper.

After posting I kept thinking about this and then remembered I once had an old '65 NOS BU light kit and I still have the instructions. This is the complete set of '65 instructions for all models so more info then needed, but should be useful for '66 as well so I thought i would post it all for anyone else interested.
One of these days I get my files in order

Jeff, I wonder if you could re-post these installation instruction pictures again. I have a message on your post that says; "photos not found. click for photos". When I click the message it takes me to a link that says photos removed.
Thanks,
Tony
