Thank you Formula_jg. For whatever reason, I did not receive the map from you. To date, I have received one table from someone else. I'd like to try to send you one as a test if you let me have your email address.

Other updates, I have the app on my computer and phone, but they don't sync. So, it's important that people make the timing maps that they want to use on their phone.

My cold to hot idle increase is more than before, but besides that, the ignition is great. I would recommend this product.

Installed mine today , pretty easy install. One thing I can say is not to fuss with the required 10 degree setting on the balancer while installing. Just stab it in like normal then set the 10 degree requirement.
Everything seems user friendly so far.

For those of you who picked one of these up, what was the reason behind it? I’d love to have one but at the price, given my car is a street cruiser, I wonder if it would be more of a toy than beneficial.

In theory you should be able to give your engine exactly what it wants for timing for idle, cruise ,power etc..and also make changes very quickly.

Also time will tell how it works..I have disconnected my MSD and coil, which many car enthusiasts just have for looks.

You mean it doesn't work with an MSD box?

I'm trying mine without the MSD..Sure cleans up the engine compartment.

Oh okay, gotchya.

I hide that stuff, so I assumed maybe it wasn't functional with the new distributor.

I didn't have a distributor with vacuum advance. Only mechanical. Since my car is a street car, I wanted that, and this seemed like the best option.

Also, the car is a hobby. I frequently make expensive, unnecessary upgrades to it.

Is Progression a brand or a software package?

The sell distributors that allow for timing maps to be created and use via one's smartphone. You can makes all sort of adjustments to timing that would be very challenging with a standard set up. And you can change on the go.

Having a cold start tune now is nice. Started the car yesterday cold, no choke fired up, one tickle of the throttle and it just idled and warmed up. Then switched to a different table..pretty cool.

Thanks,

Pretty simple..32 degrees fixed timing..let it warm up and switch to another table. I don't drive it until it's switched. Just find an idle timing number that works.

32 every where? Even cranking? On generate table, just tick the fixed timing box at 32 and go with it on cold start?

Yes..it says in the instructions it only cranks at 15 degrees so no fear of kickback
See how it works for you..

It's not unusual on some of the EFI tunes I've messed with to have 25-30 degrees of idle timing with aggressive camshafts. Cranking would be a different setting.

I've done similar with mechanical distributors. With initial set at 16-18 degrees, I modify the vacuum advance working off manifold vacuum to add another 10-12 degrees. It cranks with 16 or 18 and once running the vacuum advance is added in. Takes a pretty soft spring setting in the can for more radical engines that only make 8-10 inches of vacuum idling, but it works in a similar fashion.

I do like the ease of the EFI tables though with more precise changes.

No external coil currently, I wanted to see how the unit did as is. Seems like it is working the same as the MSD. The only issue is I need to correct the rpm signal to my LM2.

Yes the mph is nice..I was trying to get that back up all year. It was easy to dial in the engine for total timing at the track.

I also gained 2mph (1/4 mile track) on street tires that spun almost half the distance and the only change was Progression Ignition in lieu of HEI.
