FNG with a 72 Lemans
I'm new here so here is a little about me and my car.
I am a 22 year old currently floating in the ocean on a navy vessel. I have a 72 Pontiac Lemans 2 door post. I bought it early march of 2014 and on April 27 2014 I blew 2 connecting rods in the 461 stroker that was under the hood. I decided to rebuild bigger and better. So began the process of having it bored and honed out to a 468. Then all new forged internals. Got in contact with Jim Lehart at Central Virginia Machine and sent him a set of 85CC KRE aluminum D-port heads. Jim is setting me up with a proven setup to make 500+ HP to the rear wheels on a 461. I talked to him the other day and he says they should be done by the end of next week. I can't wait to get them and finish off building the engine. Next will be to buy a 9" rear with 3.50 gears from quick performance. I then will begin to save to make the swap from a TH-400 to a TKO 600. The car is a 20'er and I still love it. I bought it knowing well that it was a project but the engine blowing was not planned for so I guess I will start with all the mechanics then the suspension/brakes/wheels/tires, new gauges, then off to exterior, then interior. Thanks for listening to me talk about my ol girl. |

Welcome and looks like you have good base to start your project. I like the Idea of building the engine and then the car around it. So you in the Navy? If so thanks for your service. Lots of great folks here and tons of info. Thanks for posting pics of your ride.

Welcome aboard . . . .to the boards. My Grandfather served in the U.S. Navy in WW II so I have a special place in my heart for all who have, or are protecting our freedom. Thank you for your service. Looks like you have a pretty cool Pontiac, and I am glad to see a young man like yourself keeping the Pontiac faith!

Considering all your plans my guess is you are not married? Your car looks pretty nice already and a post car is pretty rare now a days. I spent a little time in the Navy as well.

Kyle, thank you for your service! Welcome to P.Y. There is a ton of good info here for you. Before you buy the tko 600, look into all options. I like my tko 600, but there are stronger better shifting units out there now and a tunnel modification is needed with the tko. Good luck and keep us posted with pictures of the build. Get home safe!

LGT 700 If you are going 5 speed. A little smaller than the tko 600 and shifts much better, also a little stronger.
