From what I've been told, Cobrabill was giving the option of NOT threatening Doug Mathis constantly or staying on suspension. Bill chose suspension. He's doing alright.

I was on the VERY same train route during the crash that night , but 3 departure times behind.
Tragic incident; I travel this route usually monthly. The atmosphere in Grand Central station NY was one of shock and disbelief. I'll be back on the very same train line next Tuesday for a meeting in NYC.

Needless to say other night, 2 trains, a bus ride, and a 45 min car ride yielded me home at 2am, but I'm lucky that I was running late compared to those who were injured or killed.

I always followed these rules myself, but metro north published guidance to not sit by the windows and not sit in the front of train cars.
