Definitely the same guy. There's also a guy with a plaid shirt (w/ rolled up sleeves) that reappears. Even more interesting is the celebrity in the background. Looks like he might be giving someone an autograph?

Yes but who's that hot rodder in the background there?

1972. I'm the kid in the #18 shirt. That's my squeeze, Stephanie, next to me. My older brother to my left wearing identical pants and my dad's '66 GTO. This was in Newark, New York.

This is my first design high port head, 1984. Based on a 67O casting. The idea was to create a straighter and much shorter exhaust port for optimum flow. 67O was used because they were known at the time to have the best intake flow.

My first GTO. '67 post car. Had a 455 and was faaaaaaast!

Here we have my '66 Sprint 6 Lemans getting stuck in the black gumbo back yard in Texas. My dad was so pissed at me.

Next is my brother's '71 Chevelle

and finally my '76 Lemans Safari Wagon.

This is a great thread. Lots of cool nostalgic pics!!

The idea has worked out well. In Oct '86 my car set the absolute ET record at 6.77. Now were are #4, still respectable. Car has much more in it as my wallet allows. We may take her out in a week or so. Do not want to break the theme and post newer pics here but, there are pics of my 'current', I put 'current' in quotes because I built these close to 1O years back. Anyway, there are pics on my site in interested.

Here are a few I dug up after having looked at the entire 34 Pgs.

#1 is Jungle Pam. I hope it is not over the limit for the Mods, but it is too funny to pass up. I like how Hurst graduated to a 421 car in '66 from the 389 in '65. All that advertising must have paid off!

Kudos to Steve for all the Pontiacs and other stuff he has saved over the years and for sharing. What Kind of Music did you listen to in your original pro touring GTO? I know what I would have been playing on the cassette machine!

Great photo! That's Jack "Doc" Watson facing the camera, just over the hood of the car. Miss Hurst looks a heck of a lot like Mary Tyler Moore in this photo.

Excuse me miss but, you butt is hanging out of your 'pants'. lol

The '65 Hurst girl was Pat Flannery. May not have spelled her name correctly.

As for music in my pro tourning 'boomer', primarily current 80s dance, top 40 and pop. Some late 50s- early 60s stuff ( Beach boys Jan and Dean, Leslie Gore, Shangrilas, etc), incl lots of hot rod and surf music. Also some 70s- Steve Miller, Elton John, Abba, etc. About the same stuff I listen to today. I was never a real 'rocker' type.
I still remember listening to the Pet Shop Boys, Nu Shooz, Michael Jackson, B-52s, Steve Winwood etc. and so many others from the day.
I remember countless times driving at very high speed in the middle of the night through the mountains to Rock Lobster with both the stereo and the Ram AIR IV 428. Also took it skiing and snow boarding too in the winter. Still think of thse days when I often drive that way. Superior to Globe to Show Low to Greer area.
wire open.! incredible. Cannot wait to do it again someday. There are many great twisty mountain roads in Az.
