SD scoop info
Can anybody share any details on the Super Duty hood scoop as seen below? I'm considering putting one on my '64 2+2, as a tribute, since it now has a 421. The pic is a '63, but that is the scoop.
Where to get one? Is there a hole in the hood or how are they attached? Is there an underhood seal or other attachment details? Any info or sources?

The scoop is-was a ford truck scoop. That grill in the picture was-is not correct on a pontiac.Only the scoop is.There is nothing on the hood to help you place it,nothing in any pontiac factory lit either. You just place it where the carbs are centered in it.It has studs on it that are used to fasten it to the hood.I used a rubber gasket material I bought from West Marine for it.Tom

Thanks Tom. Did you cut a hole? If the grill is incorrect- is it left open or is there something else there. Also, it seems that there are several sizes, can you advise correct dimensions?

There is-was only one original metal ford scoop. There are aftermarket glass ones. They show up on ebay all the time.Should not have to pay more than 75-90 dollars for them.I think I bought them from ford when they still had them for under $30 brand new.And yes I cut the hood for it.Tom

You may be lucky enough to find one on a Ford truck in a salvage yard somewhere. Look for a 1958-1960 heavy duty truck, something like a dump truck.

I have the scoop you are looking for. I bought it when I was working on a 63 Tempest but never finished the project. In good shape. I would take $225 plus shipping. If you are coming to Norwalk I will bring it there.

Interesting. That looks like about a '67 or so, I didn't know Ford was still using them that late.
