Can anyone help me to figure out the age of a set of goodyear slicks?
I ran a 6.90 in the 1/8, but a couple of the guys i trust said the car was spinning down the entire track, i am wondering if the slicks are just to hard.

Ask around the track for a durometer. That will tell you how soft your tires are. Someone will have one. Getting tirehardness from datecodes is inaccurate because something could have happened to the tires that may have caused the tire to get hard (dryrot for instance) If you are hard up for cash, there are chemicals that can soften tire compound... Cheating technique used in oval track racing.

I used to use tire softners, but i am more concerned with the sidewalls not having much flex, i only had ten pounds in them, and they had very litle "wrinkle" to them. Actually, I guess i need to just cough up the money for a new set of 32x14s and be done with it, thank for the advise, Rich

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">i only had ten pounds in them, </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

That seems like a lot to me. 32 X 14 with 10??

My car is very light I know, but I run 5 or 5.25. When I had the bird I don't remember running much over 7.5 @ 3097 pounds.

Call goodyear. I once bought a used set of M & H racemasters at a swap meet that were only a year old. I took them to the track and spun really bad. I called M & H, I gave them all the info on the sidewall and he said he didnt make any sense. I them told him it said watertown, MA, he told me they haven't been on that location in 15-20 years.

Thanks for the help guys, i know i will need it, the tires end up being april 95, new enough, but i have decided to put on d-5 compound, stiff sidewalls. Hoping this helps, but i now think that i really need help in the launch, i really do not know how to run an auto. i know this sounds strange, but i have only had four speed cars that were fast my entire life. (started another question above)
