I have an 80 TA Pace car slightly scratched the grey

I have narrowed down to 2 gm color codes

Platinum 15-WA7022 or

Charcoal 84-WA7197

I believe Platinum is correct

At 35.00 a can of spray paint I would like to get it right from the start

The body tag on the cowell should tell the pontiac paint code, Being one of the few two tone paint trans ams it should read something like 15L16U only the numbers will be the paint code (Lower, Upper)
Its been awhile since I have been into the paint of my 79 but I am pretty sure that #15 is one of the colours on my TATA (maybe the darker) I dont know if that relates to the pace car or not. They have identical paint schemes just different colours.
I bought paint from Automotive Touch Up out of N.O. and the paint matched perfectly. Even if you dont buy from them they have all of the factory colours listed by year and code # so that may help with knowing what the right one is.

Still trying to know if the Grey paint color is

My gut is telling me Platinum but who knows

Thats odd that they dont list both colours! Looking at the 'definitive' trans am book by Rocky R. There is a department bulletin. It list colour as White Lower, Gray upper. It goes on to say Cameo white and there is a mention of charcoal. But I dont see anywhere that it lists the dark colour by name specifically.

Platinum is silver...as per a TATA.

Build sheet and documents say upper is code 16, possibly also same 16 as 79 TATA WA7054 Charcoal Grey Metallic, and I think what Formulas used briefly.

I don't have the book mentioned, do what you will with this info also if of use or not.

My 1978 Paint samples use the same codes 11 + 16.

Paint ref shows the WA7054 as a Pontiac color for 78 and 79

The 1980 is for chevy and GM no mention of Pontiac for 1980

The darker charcoal color on both the TATA and the later pace cars is 16.

I have paperwork here for 1980, listing paint code 16 as an accent colour, they aren't always listed on charts for paint options. It is the same code and mix as the 78/79 and sample pic I posted.
