Default 1968 354 with 1964 9773845's

i know that you cant put later heads on a pre 1966 engine...

but will 1964 326 heads work on a 1968 354 with stock cast pistons?

im not looking to make this a peformance application, just a cruizer!

thanks for the input!

Brian

Yes they will, but do not run over .450" or so lift with out checking your piston to valve clearance, and your compression dependant on what cam you run may be too high!
Have these old heads been rebuilt, surely you can turn up something newer?

i got 3 sets of good heads, been decked, valves laped, and new seals.. and a few more pairs that need totally rebuilt.

i have a set of i believe are 7L4's which are 111cc 2.11 and 1.66. (455 heads)that would drop my compression to about 6.8:1, and even lower on the dynamic. i dont want that!

i have the 326 heads that i wanted to use primarely for the 2 bbl intake. the only 2 bbl intake i have is for the 64 style of heads.

i do have a set of 62's that are in primo condition, but those are for the 400 that im going to put together next.

the cam i have for this build is a summit 2800. .420/.442 lift with 204 /214duration.

the only problem is that i need to cc the heads to determine the exact chamber size.

if its a 58 cc head then that will run my static c/r to 11.2 with the cam involved, it drops the dynamic to 10.77:1..

sounds like it wont be too bad....

this engine is going into a 42 pontiac for now. so peformance isnt really an issue.

what do you think about this combo?
