Default where to buy convertible tops

I need a vert top for my new 69 and I will probably do it myself.
Wheres the best place to buy?
Price and/or quality?
any experiences do it yourselfers?

peformance years, original parts group, and year one all carry quality tops.
i have a 68 tempest vert. i ordered a top from OPGI. fit perfect, even with my lack of expertise in doing tops.
2 pointers for you...
dont settle for a plexi glass back window.
and get the new felt/tack strip when installing a new top.
its a PITA to install, but a rookie can do it.

Why do you say "don't settle for a plexi glass back window"?

It's been my experience the plastic rear window will eventually cloud up. If you keep it long enough it could crack.

Btw, anyone know of a video for install of vert top?

Can you get anything other than plexi glass? I know you can get folding glass on other cars, but I haven't seen it on first gen f-bodies.

I'm sure you can get folding glass on first gen f-bodies, but I've always disliked how small it makes the window. If you thought the blindspot was bad before, check it out on a convertible with a glass back window. My installer says its no problem replacing just the plexiglass if it clouds up, so that's probably what I'm going with.

I just got singened up a dealer for a company that makes tops , pumps, lines ,padding etc. They also have videos for the intall. they are fords in the videos but should be the same deal.

I ordered all my stuff and will be getting my video with it. I'll see how it is and let you know.

Should have everything by the weekend.

I sell alot of turbos and wastegates, and CAT performance parts and thought this might be a good addition to the mix

By the way I also have turbo headers being made over seas for pontiacs right now.

See Pontiaczone forced induction forums for the info on them.

if you get a plexiglass (which I recommend , just tuck a towel in when you put it down, it wont scratch...
a plastic window vs glass will use less space when folded down , = easier with a boot...doesnt stick up much...as a matter of fact I`d recommened the thinner top material too for that same reason....
and the folding glass tends to break at the silicone joint..

Got my top, pads cables and video.

The videos SUCKS LOL
Its a newer stang like mid 90's and really doesnt go into enough detail really.

The top looks pretty easy to do yourself IMO but I haven done it yet so well see what I have to say when its done.LOL

I am debating weather to hold off until after the body is all done or to put it on now and protect it.

Local places here wanted 1150 for install with parts but it was extra for cables and weather tripping or tack strips etc. I could easily see it turning into a $1500 bill.

I got all the parts except for weather stipping and tack strips for $350.00

Well see how it goes
