Default 1965 GTO KM Tool J-4266 Cylinder Head Lifting Hook

I have a pair of the J-4266 Cylinder Head Lifting Hooks, they are mentioned in the 1965 Pontiac Tempest LeMans TSM on page 6-56 and again on page 6-100. My question is how do the tools attach to the head? The TSM usually has an illustration showing how said tool is used or attached but in this case no. There is a single hole and a bolt, but that is all I have. Any insight appreciated. Thank you

Good question!
I never thought one would need a tool to lift a head.
Are the bolts 3/8"? (like intake bolt thread size)

I would think it could go on the face of the intake side of head with the open end to the rocker area. Then grab the 'Handles' and raise off block?

I found this in the forum: https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com....php?p=6475327
I also saw an old Pontiac manual online. 53 pages. It had the tool listed at the end under ‘special tools’ but never showed it being used.

Another thing, if you're doing heads: a pair of threaded studs or old head bolts with the head cut off installed at each end of the bank, so when you go to drop the head back on, they guide it to the dowel pins without it slipping off and ruining your new head gasket. BTDT. As we all get older, we need all the help we can get!

Cool doc.

Pontiac doesn't have rocker arm bracket bolt holes, so I guess the valve cover bolt holes would work.
You don't have this tool, just wondering how it works?

I noticed the picture says for rocket engines and Oldsmobile at the top. Just to be sure, what is the ID of the boss on the handles? In other words, what is the biggest bolt you could stick thru the boss?
