I don't believe the Progression has a vacuum advance. Not sure I would want to drive a street a car on the street without vacuum advance.

It's done electronically, much like you do with EFI setups and timing control. In the light throttle cruise areas where vacuum is high you add timing in those areas, just like a vacuum advance does.

At least I would hope you could do that with this ignition, however trying to look at a timing graph on a phone would be about ridiculous, you really need a lap top to dial it in correctly.

Yes, of course you can add timing at cruise (or anywhere). You seem really hung up on the whole phone thing for some reason. (Can also use a tablet).
My 58 year old eyes can barely see across the room sometimes but I have no problem using the app. Really the only time you need to use the phone app is to generate the initial timing table and send it via Bluetooth to the distributor. After that the distributor works like any other. I do use the app while driving sometimes to monitor the situation or use the gauges, (have a phone holder on dash which I have no trouble seeing), but there’s not a requirement to even have your phone with you after the initial setting is programmed

Its really easy on a phone to see and use, a tablet will work as well I have one in my car, another thing to mention is the gauge readout on it shows engine vacuum current timing rpms and mph, as far as vacuum timing you can set the parameters of when it starts and stops and how much to add

I'd need a phone the size of a laptop lol.

Honestly I'd like it better if it were transferable to an SD card and just plug it into the laptop. Or maybe they could offer a cord or plug in option like everyone else does when it comes to computer controlled stuff. Maybe some day if they get around to that, and can confirm they have fixed the tach issue, I'll try one. Phones are just not what I want to use to do anything car related. Half the time I don't even carry the darn thing with me, and if it weren't for my wife making me have it, it would be at the bottom of Watson Lake

So it has a vacuum port on the distributor?

Yeah. It connects to full vacuum and takes a reading. My hyperspark is the same.

I have to say, its pretty darn convenient to whip out the phone, open the app and have the tach, timing, and manifold vacuum displayed, and being able to change timing in real time as I stand there without connecting any wires

When I go to the dragstrip I just set the timing fixed, I also use the same table for cold starts. The start retard is also a great feature.

Good idea. I have several tables saved where the timing is locked at 30, 32, 34, 36& 38 degrees. My idea was to try them all at the dyno to see which made the most power.

I’m with the factory distributor Accel points crowd either triggering a box, or not. I’ve experienced failures with MSD and HEI so for me simple is good.
Considered Progression but the price and seeing the coil cook one of these units discouraged me.

With an automatic and a decent converter is the shape of the curve really all that important anyway? Just make sure it doesn’t advance at idle and is all in at flash stall. Put 20ish degrees in the distributor, add 10 degrees vacuum advance, set your total. Done
