Default 1108436 starter wanted

I'm looking for an original 1108436 starter. Needs to be original (no restamps) and needs to be dated mid October of 1969 or prior.

Continual "wanteds" on PY for original "8436" starters.
If there was a line, it would be 25 deep...

How do you read date codes on starters?

Mike,
To answer, year produced, followed by letter of Month (no I's), followed by day of the month.

X2 - I've had my want ad out there for a while.

Tellyshavilli indicated that he has a couple for sale. Unfortunately, out of my price range.

I'm working on taxes and don't have time to look this up.

What applications were these used on?

1970 Ram III?
1970 Ram IV?
1970 455HO?
1971 455HO?
1972 455HO?

All of the above Mike. Date codes are key though. They were the first component to take a dump due to high heat exposure. Legit starters are extremely tough to come by these days. Most starter cores have gone to china by now. I have been collecting them for years and originals are extremely scarce. Just like Ram Air carbs, LOTS of re-stamps out there. Ebay is polluted with them.

A fellow PYer and I rummaged through a couple of starters this past weekend and found an 1108435 and a 1108436. I've never paid attention to date codes on Pontiac starters, but the date codes don't look right.

So the 1108436 is a Feb 11, 1971 date.

What about the 1108435? It looks like the date code of 0A72. Is there usually that much distance between the characters in a date code stamp?

Nice score on the '436. Dates are '71, Feb. 1st and '70, Jan. 7th. Not too sure on the other number, thought was a shift indicator, but with numbers like an 8 they are probably a built on assembly line indicator.

I may have one off my 1968 Grand Prix. Never checked the date code, so no idea if it's original. I'll have a look next week. It works fine, I just swapped it for a high torque to clear the ram air exhaust manifolds.

What's it even worth? I assume $1,100 is out of the question. :-)
