Shifter mystery...to me anyway
When I bought my GTO to restore it came with this shifter that appears not to be correct. It doesn't have any mounting tabs in front. Does this belong to a different model Pontiac?

Your shifter appears to be missing the front feet for bolting to the trans tunnel. Not sure if someone cut them off or what, but it should look like this:

It is missing the rear feet. Easy enough to make new ones.

Ham is correct, front feet are missing.

If it's a proper restoration, the carpet gets sliced down the middle
of the tunnel. Not sure how long the cut should be. It's probably an order of assembly kind of deal. The thick washers under those bolts? They're actually spacers, they go under the shifter. HTH. |

Yeah strange...I guess I'll ditch this one and try to find the correct one

If you're able to weld, it would be pretty easy to attach some feet on your existing shifter. Heck, you could probably just bend up some scrap steel tabs, drill some holes and bolt them to the shifter. Since reproductions don't exist, the original 2-speed shifter assemblies are kinda pricey for what you're getting.
