Met the guys from Dallas. Mike is a super nice guy.
The evening started a little tough for me. Fiancee had a car wreck, tow vehicle lost an alternator on the way to track.
After a roadside, auto-zone fix we finally made it to the track at 11:00!
The folks said the track wasn't working, so I made a test hit. Track was working just fine. BUT evidently the Pontiac looked too good. Whatever that means.
Suddenly, I had no race with a Chevelle, the Fogger equipped 56 didn't want to run (offered to go my motor to his spray) and Unc said I had him covered.
So after a little frustration and my crew almost beating me for no race, we agreed to a $50.00 race with Unc, he got lane choice and the rear wheel stage. Something went wrong with Unc's car and the race never happened.
Very disappointing, Unc was a nice guy and the Denton track is very nice but couldn't buy a damn race.
Oh well maybe some other time!

Hey 9secbottle

Next time get you race and your bet secured before they see you run. Then take the money and run. Don't beat the guy too bad, if you know you got him let off a bit so you win only by a small margin. Then maybe he'll race you again or someone else will race you.

Do you ever go to Kennedale 9SecBottleFedBird? Sounded like a fun night, but I bet would have been great to get in more runs. Was your first run on motor, the one you where just testing with?

It was 93 blk coupe on dfwstangs (fred & claudette) and I think claudette was driving on that pass. The mustang actually made a very nice run.

Never give a sucker an even break. Next time, don't show all your cards on the table before negotiating a waged race.

Thanks Guys, had fun up there and YES I will be more careful on my test hits next time.
Went to Navasota last night and had more fun with the Chevy boys.
Dave Sober, A couple other Pontiac boys (one really nice guy that I can't remember Screen name).
Sober's car is SOO damn nice.
Had the car set up with -10 plugs and 116 gas and was going to put the bottle in at Navasota but just never got to it.
The car did seem to suffer a bit this time running that set-up with 88degree temps and 70% humidity. May have to get this plug ans gas thing right!
First gave the move to one of the best looking 55's I have EVER seen racing. BB chebby with a Dart Components, Gorgeous red paint, etc etc etc
He took off and the Pontiac torque lived up to its billing, got the move and three back by 500 foot.
Next was another damn nice car a yellow with flames 66 Chevy II (loved his paint choice!!) with a SB and a little N2O. I gave him lane choice, him on hose and transbrake and I took left lane, all motor and footbrake. Car left hard as hell first pass and won by three. Did it again (not my best move) and cut a horrible .580 light and had adjusted the Cal-Tracs for more bite (FAILED) and got beat by a car length on a pitiful 1.58 60ft, 6.57@105.8 - Car just lost it and cost me a few bones.
Tried to get a couple more races and was really hunting a good ole fashion all motor for a C Note affair but just couldn't get it.
Did scare off a 496 Chevy with a wing, tubs, wheelie bars and a chute.
All in all after my fiancee's crash, a blow-out and broke alt. on tow truck (both of which we fixed in record time) was a pretty good weekend. Sure was nice to meet and see so many Pontiac guys.
Next up the Clash Aug. 31st - hope to see you guys there.

Was nice to get the car out after being out for about 6-8 months. 9sec was hauling ass and had to give something up to get a race with even tubbed, transbraked race cars. Traction was horrible for me and was so for everyone I spoke to. My car was off pretty bad with nothing new but tight nitrous converter and 30" vs 28" tire. I think the cold plugs hurt me too. Best 60ft was 1.59 with low 1.6's the norm. I think the converter is OK, but went overboard on tire height. Will test with 28" tire next weekend on track with good hook. I normally run mid to high 6.6's out there but could not go quicker than 6.96 last night. Maybe some 4.11 gears will help. Hey 9sec...how far off were your 60fts last night?

Dave:

WOW - your car is looking great - nice change! The Carousel Red was a good choice.

Sorry to hear it wasn't running up to expectations, though. Hopefully the shorter tire will help.

Thanks for the pics, Larry.

Dave, again your car is looking GOOD!. My 60ft was off about.07 to .11 Was between 1.54 to 1.58, at Sealy in the heat it was 1.47 & 1.48. The car spun pretty good all the way through first. Did that lean the rear out to the left thing.
I think I did two bad things - A. had the Cal-Tracs in top hole B. Used -10 plugs and 116 gas - that probably hurt MPH. Also tires were at 10.5lbs normally slip on down to 9.5.
Overall the car was off a tenth and 1MPH in 1/8th.

I like the taller tire for 1/4 and also like you run a tight N20 conv. I think off the footbrake I can only ask for so much - I really think the high 1.4X range is about all I can get out of the 60 unless the track is really hooked-up. Tell your buddy I am sorry I forgot his name, he seemed like a nice guy who actually knew Pontiacs.

Why don't you come run Cheap Street at the clash with us? It is a great class - No wheelie bars, no scoops, no chutes, no BS, and you can't run quicker than 9.00 due to NHRA rule on chute at 8.99.
The class is perfect for your car with a little hit of juice. Steve Coombes was runner-up at first event (think he went as quick as 9.48 during rounds) and a 9.40 would have won every round so far in the two races run. The finals in Houston were a 9.74 to a 9.78. I have not been able to run one yet but will be there with bells on Aug. 30 & 31st.

See you H-Town boys soon.
Dave

Let me know when you are going to Sealy. I just need to throw in my new starter and I'm ready.

I wish they would have a heads up 7.00 class.

9sec...Is this at the track near San Antonio? What about tech? Are they tough on tech? Just have 6 point roll bar with no halo...Will this pass?
My 60fts were off by same amount. Found some of the problems for poor performance and feel the car will run better next outing, and hopefully will be on good track this time. I am going to No Problem raceway in LA this weekend. Cut a 1.36 60ft there last year with old MT's. Have a set of good borrowed MT's 10.5-28 to test against the 30-9 goodyears.
9sec...what does your converter stall on motor and on the gas(size shot)? With the tire spin, I could not nail down the flash on mine. Was about 4000 spinning on motor, too scared to look on spray pass. You should come to Louisiana, excellent track, slow cars, no body knows you, you could take some $ from the locals!! Think they have a web site...NoProblemRaceway
