Default Authenticity-1970 Judge

Just wondering. I think having a PHS document, it would indicate whether the 1970 GTO you're looking at, came from the factory with the Judge option. But just say, the sheet wasn't available when you first looked at the car. Is there any definitive way to determine if it is a real Judge or not?? I wouldn't buy the car with the PHS documentation, but just curious about the other. Would there be a certain number or letter in the VIN? Thanks, Carmine.

Carmine,
No! The VIN didn't identify a Judge only if a GTO ( 42) and a hardtop( 37) or convertible(67), plant code then sequential serial number with identified of 8 or 6 cylinders.

An Oshawa built 70 Judge will have the WT1 stamp on the trim tag.

Hmm, so if the data plate has OS and WT1, it is a Judge?
That is interesting!

OK. Thanks. I guess the PHS or original bill of sale would be the only way to go, Carmine.

There is an exclusion factor with 70 Judge VIN #'s

No 1970 Judges were built at Atlanta (A) , nor Framingham (G) plants that year.

242370Axxxxxx
242370Gxxxxxx

either of those scenarios would be fakes

Its one of those "easy to forget" little tidbits of 70 data.

Assembly Line build sheets are sometimes found in decent condition with some cars.

Still though , at the end of the day , if the car is selling for more than $1000 and the only way you have interest is if its a Real Judge defacto - you had better get your own personal copy of the Invoice(s) from PHS directly.

They offer same day service when needed.

I've never seen it personally. Not sure how much sincere interest I have in it. It would probably be stronger if I sold a few first. For this kind of car and money, I would have to take a trip and inspect the car myself first. I would also want my own PHS sheet.
In pics it appears to have all the bells and whistles that a real '70 Judge would have. I don't rely much on that. That can be purchased and installed aftermarket. I contacted the dealer and asked about the original motor and trans. Haven't heard anything yet. Maybe that's an omen. Thanks everyone, Carmine.
