I have a few sets of H beam 6.625 Rods that I had made up for just this instance. Saving old cranks that need to go BBC size on the rod journals. It has been hard to got .040 bearings for 20 years. These work on a .050 under crank. 6.625 long, .980 bushed pin end, can hone to .990 if need be. ARP 8740 1.800 long bolts x 7/16. Finished machined in House.

Recently Butler had a deal with Lunati offering a similar service but the cranks would be tufftrided rather than hard chromed. Pretty sure that deal fell apart when Lunati changed ownership again. |

I ran a 400 N crank for years turned down .050" to fit the BBC 2.20" rod journals. Pinched a ring and beat the rod bearings on a small shot, but no issues with that crank. Go with a set of BBC rods, there are a ton of rod insert choices for those engines. The challenge is finding a competent crank grinder that can turn the journals down and cut the proper shoulder radii.
