Default Dello 400 30 WT oil

A guy cleaning out a old shop gave me 1 and 1/2 5 gallon buckets of it. One never opened. It is used in a lot of heavy equipment. Any of you guys ever use it in your cars ?

hi, yes I worked at a trucking co. for 20+ years. we used delo 400 for the last 15 or so years. good oil no problems on the big rigs. we were allowed to use it in our personal cars and I had no issues in my 70 gmc or my 74 ta. worked good for me. BLUE TA

Was it their straight 30WT ? I have run their 15-40 in my bracket car for awhile. I believe the zinc is 1200 and phosphorus is 1100 ppm pn the 30WT. I can at least use it to break in my next 2 engines. And run it in my beater work Honda Civic.
Tell you the truth I could probably use it in my bracket engine but I will use something more race oriented.

i worked at a Chevron gas station in college and could get 24 cans of 30 wt Delo for $8.00. I used it for 2 years in my 67 Catalina. You could eat off the inside of the valve covers. I was in New Mexico where the weather was much warmer .

Straight 30W is probably a little thick in many parts of the country. But Delo is a quality oil, probably composition wise, very similar to Rotella T of the same time period. Everyone seems to love that stuff.

Sounds like a "go for it" deal

On Amazon right now it is 12.87$ a QUART ! Not cheap. You can buy high end synthetic racing oil for less than that. The guy just gave me another almost full 5 gallon bucket of Phillips 66 T5X Heavy Duty 30 WT. Have a bunch of this stuff now.
I know a friend who is retired on fixed income. He has a very nice late 90s Ford F 250 diesel truck. I think I will give him a free oil change and put some of this to good use.

Makes sense, it has a lot of detergent being a diesel oil. It does not get cold here in coastal upper northern California so I will be fine using it. BTW, I say "upper northern" because to most people Sacramento and San Fransisco are "Northern California. Its not. And not fit to live either.
