To far to drive the car however I'd LOVE to since that car rides like dream. Craig, will your wife still let you come out and play? What about a truck to pull that fancy trailer I need to rent? Still need to start working SuperDutyD about making that trip with us too!

were those TA's matching numbers cars? i have one with a matching code, not number block, but when done would like to think it would be worth more than that.

Why should any musclecar let alone an SD continue to hold their value in this economy when the majority of homeowners have lost their shirts during the last 3-5 year real estate bubble? Not trying to ruffle any feathers--just being realistic.

Default 74sd value

Yes just look at 1974 trans am completed sales on EBAY and you will see both blue SD cars, low mileage cars, orginal number matching cars, $33,100 for auto and $33,433 4spd car. Both look like nice cars. I am saving my money cause I want another one! LOL

Bugster your right about that. I am lucky to have both me and my wife employeed. This is a terrible economy and we are all going to have to do more with less in this economy! No offense taken here!

same thing not trying to ruffle just my opinion. there were only so many SD's (and some other rare muscle cars built) where there are millions of houses and more being built ever day. people thought houses would always go up, and they did for awhile, with the banks inflating things some, till the bubble popped. like the houses, some muscle cars(hemi cuda's) went way over board, a million for a hemi cuda, really? in around 1990-1991 prices topped out for awhile on cars with some saying they would never go back up, then they started gaining again. will we ever see the crazy times of the 2007-2008's again? in ways i hope so, so i can sell a couple for good money, but in ways i hope they stay affordable for more people to enjoy. it's hard to drive a car you are scared will get smashed and so they sit and only get looked at. i have to applaud several people here who drive theirs like they were meant.

Good point Brad! Over the years I've owned a 1973 SD Formula(Brown) and SD TA(Green), 2-1974 SD Formulas(Fire Coral Bronze and Honduras Maroon), and 5-1974 SD TAs(4 Blue,1 Red). Unfortunately all had to be sold to keep a business afloat. I imagine alot of other folks are rethinking ownership due to their economic situation and therefore cars are selling at a bit of a discount compared to recent years. When the economy improves so will disposable income. In the meantime, I am looking to get another SD and hopefully at a good price as I am saving also. Good luck in your search.

Point taken;however, new housing starts are way down and existing used inventory is still high. Nowadays many people are walking away from their homes and renting houses that investors are buying to rent. It's hard not to consider a musclecar an investment when the cost of admission is still pretty high, but ownership should still be primarily enthusiast first investment second. You could probably live in your car but you can't eat it. My first car was a Pontiac and that's why I love the marque. But at the end of the day, my family will have a home, clothes ,and food on the table because ANY car is still just cast iron and steel!

I've driven mine since new to 39700 miles. drove it to gettysburg-POCI.Charleston-POCI(1st one). Drove it at least 10 times to Norwalk-showed it Sat.raced it few times Sun and drove it home.Mine is stock from the factory-14-o's-99-100mph. The Charleston show another SD owner said-'I didn't see your trailer? No-I drove it here from Pa.-you shouldn't be driving this car he said. I enjoyed the yrs I've owned it-street raced a few cars on the way to Norwalk-oh yeah surprise. I usually have a few spare parts in the trunk. I am concerned as I get older about the car-getting dented, etc.Over the yrs the wife has never once asked me to sell the car to help when we were not working. In that light I've been fortunate. Its still just an object-family is more important. Bob

Judge thats the way I figured it someone blew it then sleeved it-but I used it all these yrs. I regularly bought parts at the local Pontiac dealer.the parts guy always kept me informed of blocks, heads etc that were-scrapped.(IV-WW block was the best). Bob

Post the links to these supposed 74 sd cars that where on ebay. I watch it pretty close and dont recall any manual car selling period!
The economy is picking up and so are car prices. When did you ever see a bandit cars selling in the high sixties (69k)let alone a y82 in the high thirties(39k)??? I know, I know, asking is one thing and selling is another.
Remember you get what you pay for no matter how the economy and if a 74 sd sold for that low something was wackohhhhhhhhhhhh for sure!
