Did you buy it?

What was up with this 1973 SD455 automatic T/A White/Red. Sold for $47,300 at Mecum Glendale?

I don't see a VIN listed. Perhaps a L75 car with a transplanted SD?

BTW, what's with the "special order paint & interior" comment? Nothing odd about a #11 paint with #471 interior.
Then there's the "electric emissions pump" comment in the text.
Looks at the least, as a botched online presentation.

I agree. Looks like a nice car. So it hammered for around 43k. So he walks away with 38k after paying the commission and the entry fee. He still made 12k. lol

Maybe he bought it 20 years ago for 25k. That could be his logic.

Maybe it was an older bondo restoration on a rough car - that was coming back to haunt.
Did anyone lay eyes on it at the auction ?

It is identical color/equipment to a car that was let rot real bad sitting in the NC Mountains years ago.
In the late 80's it was already a Real Mess - but complete and intact .
A couple of PY members in NC had seen it in person and had pictures of it.
Car could be bought for 5k , but nobody was brave enough.

Mecum Seller said the next owner needs tetnus shots before getting started on correcting it.

He could just be whining because the car sold so cheap. I don’t care how good of a photographer you are you can’t make a total pos look good.

Ironically, my old '73 "Y" code with transplanted SD engine, ended up in AZ. This was years ago of course, back around say 2001-03.

Bummer, it would have made a nice bookend to your silver Formula.
