Default Tripower vacuum set up

I am almost finished with the tripower install. But I have a few questions on the vacuum connections.

I have a 66 tripower, on a aluminum intake. Th400 tranny.

  • The front carb is supplying the vaccum for the power brakes, I even have the hard line that runs back.
  • On the middle of the intake, I have the plastic "T" that I have hooked to the PCV.
  • On the back of the center carb, One port to the choke. One port to the Dizzy.
  • That leaves me with a ported port on the pass. side of the center carb, and the hollow stud in the rear of the rear carb.
Which port is for the tranny? The modulator is requiring a larger hose then the ports I have.
The vacuum gauge hose will fit on the hollow stud? I guess that's correct.

The PCV and Brake hoses are larger, should I " T " off them for the tranny?
Also, what kind of fuel preassure are you running?

Hoping to fire her up this afternoon.

A/T Tripowers uses a special fitting from the front carb base sharing both power brakes and modulator on drivers side and checkvalve for vacuum can on passenger side.

I would use the hollow stud for the modulator hose missing this fitting.

I believe the hollow stud is for vacuum supply to the heater controls on an A/C car. All '66 tripowers have this stud, though (but obviously not all tripowers have A/C). Non A/C cars have cable control of the doors, but A/C cars have vacuum control.

6 Grrrs, you´re correct regarding the original use of the hollow stud.

However, it is just a manifold vacuum port wich can be used for A/T modulator if needed?

The problem with using the hollow stud, it takes a smaller diameter hose, while the modulator, need a bigger hose, so you need to step it up somewhere. I had to find a " T " with different sizes on it.
It is nicer to use that stud, as it's in the back, and easier to hide all the lines. I ran off the hollow stud, used a 3 way "t" and went to the vacuum gauge, and the tranny. Advance auto actually has a nice selection of plastic T's.

It was the tranny line messing me up. All is done. The car fired up last night.
So far no leak's.....
