I mean my impression of many of the folks that I know who own high end cars: they are just buying status and couldn't change a bicycle tire.
Ain't that a fact.

Last fall I went to a cruise night with Lou Gramm. There was a guy there with a new(er) McLaren. Out of curiosity I asked him who's engine is McLaren using knowing McLaren isn't big enough to make their own. The pompous-ass gives me this smug look and said, "McLaren" and just about walked through me.

That night I came home, did about a 30 second search only to find out its a NISSAN. The following week I went back, saw that guy again and educated him that he was driving a glorified, overpriced Datsun.

Haha brilliant
Would love to of seen his face.
I love a nice looking car, and if I see a Supercar or just a high performance car I will stop and talk to the owner/driver about it.
A lot of people turn their noses up when they see them.
Just a shame a lot are driven by complete knobs

I don't remember McLaren ever making their own engines; but they did use quite a few performance engines - everything from a 1.5 litre Cooper to a V-12 Lamborghini. Ford, Chevrolet, Renault, Honda, Porsche, and others were all used at one time or another.

Pretty successful company.

Jon.

If you had spent more than 30 seconds, you would have learned that he was correct.
