'62 Tempest Super Duy 195 Carb
I just rebuilt a carb with tag number 7019079, a Rochester 4 jet carb. The carb was either NOS or rebuilt by a carb rebuild company a long time ago. It had the typical white powder buildup between the airhorn & float bowl. The last picture is the "Before." Restoration went well, however, and it looks like new with new needle/seats, gaskets, accelerator pump, etc. Main jets are .057", secondary jets .069".
My concern is that it has no power valve. the bottom of the float bowl where the valve normally screws in is not machined, nor are the vacuum or gasoline passages. Did these SD Tempests not have power valves?

What was the option called that used the Rochester carb? The sites I checked for carb rebuild kits specify the Rochester 4 barrel for the 195 optional engine.

OK, they're not Super Duty, but an optional 4 barrel Rochester on a 195 4 cyl. Judging by the exhaust manifolds (split with two cylinders in each manifold), Pontiac was fairly serious about making some HP with this non-Super Duty engine.
My original post asked if these carbs should have a power valve. Does anyone know?

The Rochester 4-Jet used on the 4-195 optional engine IN 1961 did not have a power valve.
This was changed for the 1962 model year. Jon.
