Default Looking for a hat.

After at least 25 years my favorite hat is looking so rough the wife won't let me wear it when we go out.
Anyone have a lead on where I could find another Death by Pontiac hat?

From being in the Pontiac T shirt business for a number of years, I would say your best bet would be to find someone that does embroidered hats local to you, let them use your old hat for a pattern, and have one/some made.

Just so you know the machine setup is a flat fee whether you have one made, or one hundered made. It might be advatageous to sell some here on PY to defray your cost of the setup fee. I did a quick scan on the net and you can buy a T shirt with that design on E Bay, but I didn't see any hats for sale.

Link to shirt: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325661157184

I hope this info is helpful...........

I have worked with two individuals whose wives had those embroidery machines in their basements. I'll bet it's not that uncommon and you may be able to find someone on your local Facebook or Craigslist classifieds. One of them was going to do a hat for me. She told me that she just needed a clear, straight on image of the design.
There was a time when they were common in mall kiosks.

This is hilarious. I bought a camouflage baseball cap about 15 years ago and had these 2 patches sewn on. Big Chief on front, small GTO on the back. I wore that hat till a year or two ago. I dug it out of the closet just last weekend,as I wanted to wear it while cruising the LeMans. and it was so greasy and smelly even I was grossed out by it. I cut the patches off, and I am searching for just the right new hat.
BTW, I scrubbed these patches with a toothbrush after I soaked them in hot water and dish soap for an hour. You think they look old now, should’ve seen em before!

Notice how he took the picture outdoors? Probably not allowed back in the house, kinda like when one of my dogs has a run in with a skunk.

Get a hat washer cage, put it in the washer, wore out hats like that are cool. You can put them in a dishwasher too, do it next trip to a hotel lol
or take yours to an embroidery place, they can s an it and you can make a dozen up and sell em.
Me and a buddy made swearshirts up one time, they scanned a cigar label and made 2.

I wash mine with the laundry. the brim is plastic inside.
I also dye my favorite old hats and clothes with RIT black dye (the liquid).
The logos dye differently than the fabric and are still visible

You can also wear them in the shower, and shampoo them while wearing it on your head. I've done it a few times to hats I didn't want to get dirty, but somehow did. It works well.

Just to set the record straight I'm no stranger to ratty hats. Last time I wore this one into Archie's he gave me a brand new one to replace it. I haven't worn it yet since this one is still in good shape.

The Death by Pontiac hat is my favorite Pontiac hat but the old lady won't be seen with me wearing it.
