Hi,
I have a 1961 Tri-Power aluminum intake manifold. I believe this item to be very rare. I have seen cast iron versions dated for 1961, but this is the only one I have ever seen made from cast aluminum. It has been suggested that perhaps it is a "Daytona Manifold" made for Nascar but I dont know how I would be able to verify that. I will give as much info as possible on this manifold and hope that someone can help me identify it and perhaps even give it a monetary value. The end carburetor holes are larger than the center. Ends are approx. 1 11/16" dia and the center holes are approx. 1 7/16" dia. The casting date, located on the underside of the manifold is 7/19/61. The casting #s, located on the top, are 540510. The firing order , also located on top, is 18436572. Can anyone give me any info on this item. Was it a stock item? Was it a race item? What type of vehicle/engine was it designed for. What is its value. Is it considered rare? Please email me if you can help!! Thanks, Lester ASlyMan ------------------ Lester ASlyMan

You have a 1961 389 SD Alum intake. I would say it is rare. Some one else know the value of it? Floyd Hand

Yes, It was a over the counter race part, but was legal in the NHRA stock classes. The 1961 389 SD was rated at 368 HP. Floyd Hand

Believe it or not the 1960 4bbl SD intake was produced in lower quanities. But the Tri-power is more valuable. The last 4bbl I had sold for 150.00 Figure at least 100.00 more for a Tri-Power. Everyone wants the 2-4bbl
intakes produced from 61-63. Can you provide us with a part # from the intake. Offenhauser Produced a Tri-power intake for 61-64 pontiacs. Are you sure it is not a 60 intake?

the 61 SD tripower manifold was made for 306 SD heads, they had the 60 type water jackets. The manifold will NOT fit std.61-64 pass.car or 62-63 SD heads. They sell best if you have the heads to go with it.It will work fine with 55 to 60 pass, car heads.Tom

Your right Tom! I have never run an aluminum
Tri-power intake with 61-64 production heads. That is why I thought it might be a 60 intake. You might get a 60 owner interested in purchasing it. Maybe someone is doing a 61 SD clone. Sometimes they sell fast. But, you might have it for a while.

Rare, but not particularly valuable. The only guy who will want it is a guy doing a real '61 SD, of which there are few, and a guy doing a '61 SD clone. Like Tom said, he'd also want the 306 heads.
