So the reality is guys, taking an existing lit that I have and getting the crest into it, requires distorting the crest.

Thoughts?

Not to be crass, but putting a GM logo on it is only marginally better. JMHO

It's your project and will be a monster regardless.

Serious, I really do appreciate your personal thoughts as well as everyone else. I know this forum is hard core Pontiac fans like myself, so I understand the gravitation towards the crest. Lets face it guys, we all like the crest because its the branding of our sacred car hobby. I get it man, but doing the crest is 4 times more difficult then the GM logo. I want to do it, and I guess if I get enough response from you guys, it will push me to draw the damn lid.

Good to see a balance of opinions here. I want opinions guys~!

So what do you like Tom? No logo? A different logo? Different design?

Thoughts?

I would have to agree with tom s.
The air cleaner looks too much like a ford design. If i had to choose a logo it would be the GM logo.

I wonder what two separate air cleaners would look like?

You do nice work and in no way am i trying to diminish what you are trying to achieve.

A Ram air V is something that i will never be able to obtain, but it sure is nice that i can admire others who have them that are willing to share it with those like myself.

What are you talking about? You are Gene Simmons. You could have a whole estate of cars~!

I'm kidding sir...;o)

If you actually look at what GM was doing in the early 60's, with finned valve covers on the Overhead Six motor as well as a few prototype air cleaners, it's not just a Ford design style.

Hmm, two air cleaners. Never thought about that. Interesting. Well there are two spark arrest covers over the air horns on the carbs, I could just leave out the lid all together, which I have thought about as well.

And thanks for the complement. This car has been 23 plus years in the making. I has never been published or judged at a show. I can count on two hands how many car shows it has been to. Samantha does not get out much except for my personal time with the car running through the canyons early in the morning for a quick romp.

What really tickles me is when I cruse through a mall area and the little kids point and just stand in awe of the car. The 3 to 5 year olds, just stand at attention. It's the coolest feeling when a classic design is understood by the young and young at heart.

It's the whole point in getting into this insane hobby.

mike

The car has that Tom and can be shown that way. The problem is that I can't stuff an air filter in the hood and have the clearance that I need. These details will all be flushed out in the final fitment stage.

Neat. Sometimes the simple stuff is better.

I like this air cleaner, but it's way beyond my financial abilities.

Yep, I understand your point about the air cleaner. The really cool thing about what I'm doing is that the design is modular, so the system can run with or without the air cleaner top.

To make what Tom suggested which would be the original Trans Am pan design, but with quads. I'm not sure if everything will fit under the hood yet.

The air cleaner lid option came about because of the height restrictions/requirements that may come into play once the intake is on the car. There are still some unknowns at this point so I have shipped a complete V top end with 4 barrel carb to do measurements to compare the quad intake while it's being created. Then, I can determine which direction we really need to go with the pans.
