"muncie and a council"

Firebirds got the Saggy
a few 69 A bodys got the Muncie

as for a "council",maybe a product of modern schooling

That had me guessing too. 4 speeds in Sprints are very rare.

ETA - I asked the seller about the transmission

I agree about the Saginaw, the only original Muncie I have ever seen was in the 1st cammer I ever owned, a 69 Sprint Tempest.

If real it should be a 230HP engine with an H-cam if still original. I cant see the front of the engine to see the other 1 year parts, like the timing belt cover, or if it has a large harmonic balancer, or ir that is the correct aircleaner.

My 69 4-speed Tempest Sprint Definatly had a Muncie M-20 in it.

That was the car that originally hooked mo on Camers. Wish the Michigan winters and the teen aged driver would not have destroyed it!!!!!! Even if it was my least favorate color, Green with a green bench seat interior.

Looks like the front cover is the 69 version. I thought all Sprints came with chrome lids? Anyway, another 69 only? feature is the power steering cooler. Is that a Firebird only thing also? A friend of mine and I discussed this earlier this year. Anyone know for sure?

lid should be chrome,same as a 67,68.
PS cooler was for Firebirds(and some big cars),starting in 69 that had high ratio rear ends.
idea was to cool the PS fluid because of high revs.

It does have a 69 Air Cleaner, as it has the thermostatic flap to let in heated air to the carb for warm up. And it looks like the lid has had the old hot rodders trick of flipping it upside down. But usually you can still tell its chrome when it is flipped over.

Now I see the small ears on the timing cover for mounting the 69 only rear upper cover, so yes I agree it has the correct 69 cover, I was looking for the 2 mounting bolts (not 3 as the 66-68 cover have) I forgot about that feature. Not a bad looking car, and if I remember correctly they only made around 300 4-speed 69 Sprint FB's

I can not confirm that any Sprints got a PS cooler, my Firebird with a 355 axle does not have one, and my Tempest did not have Power steering, but did have a 390 rear axle. Those are the only 69 Sprints I have owned.
I do know that most Ram Air IV cars got them.

My friend noticed that they were installed on the 69 Firebird Sprints (He saw 2 this summer) and asked if other year/models got the cooler. I am wondering if it was a running change.

The seller never returned my inquiries and the bidding ended without the reserve at $8100.

I guess he wasn't that serious about selling it.

or it could be a way of establishing a baseline price to sell locally
not that the car isnt worth it but surprised that in this dull of a market time,it brought that much.

Must have been the "council" that made the difference in price.
