Default Ram Air pan distance from firewall 65 66 67 GTO

I am fabricating a ram air pan for dual four barrel carburetor intake. Can someone please tell me the distance from the back edge of the pan to the firewall for 65 66 or 67 GTO?

Thanks in advance

I don't know , but why don't you drop your points type distributor into the motor and figure you have another 1.5" after the rear side of the distributors cap to play with.

I guess the info your really asking for would from someone with a tripower on his car, but also WITH a ram air pan .

Measure from the back of the hood to where you want the foam sealing ring to fit.

I get 11" from the read edge of the hood to where the seal rubs.

The only disclaimer is that my ram air pan is a fabricated part, rather than a production stamping.

Great. Thank you! I appreciate the pictures too. Is that pan something Royal Pontiac made? I've seen similar items for sale a few times.
Your hood looks different from mine as well. Is that a Royal option?

Thanks again.

"Ram Air" was dealer installed so they may look different depending on how the dealership/tech did the cutting.

Yes, thank you. Because Keith has a 65 original Royal Pontiac listed in his signature line, I wondered if that is how Royal did it. It looks like they lowered the inside of the hood scoop to allow for more air flow. I know these hoods did not really "ram air," but the extra cold air induction air flow might have been helpful?

I've run my 67 at the track with and without the RA pan. My best time was without(maybe not a great day?). I do drive it with the RA pan on the street because I believe the cooler air has to help.

Plus the "cooler" appearance when you open the hood.

Yes - the hood was cut before we picked the car up, so either at Royal or in Pontiac Engineering. Already had the battery relocated to the trunk, too.

The pan is the part fabricated in PMD engineering that the production stamping is based on.

The "lowered front" was intended to allow you to run both the pan and the open nose piece but it didn't really work. We always ran without the nose piece anyway, for max airflow.

This setup is worth about .2 sec in ET on our car.
