I was going to say the same thing. I had installed an electronic conversion module and must not have properly tightened things. The wire feeding the module was loose and my engine died with no warning and I was stumped until I found and tightened the loose wire. Good Luck

Took a look at the distributor tonight - all the wires look good and nothing is loose or out of place. I also rotated the engine over by hand to put my mind at ease. I wanted to make sure there was no interference or odd sounds. I doubled checked the position of the rotor to the cap and the timing looks to be where I left it.

There's an original Pertronix in there now, so I'm thinking that it's probably the culprit.

I went ahead and ordered up a new cap, rotor, coil and a Pertronix II unit to cover my bases. We'll see if those will get this thing fired back up. Pulling the distributor will also give me another opportunity to prime the engine before I try to fire it again.

Ken, might want to throw a set of points in just to get it running. I remember my car shut off during break-in. I restarted in 10 min after I check different things but mine did restart right away.Any oil pressure issue's? BTW just curious what cam are you using?

Pulled the distributor and tested the Pertronix today. It seemed to still be working according to the multimeter, but I replaced it anyway with an Ignitor II.

Put in a new cap, rotor and coil and it immediately fired up and I was able to finish running in the cam

My bet is it was a bad coil.

Got a couple leaks to address and of course retuning, but it looks like the worst may be over.

Distributor was tight and didnt turn on you, happened to my first GTO back in 1986, just died while driving and would crank but not start. Turned out the distributor hold down loosened up and it turned.

Didn't test the old coil, but it's still sitting on my bench. I'll take a look at it when I get a minute if only out of curiosity.

The engine sounds good and there's no signs of backfiring or missing so I think it broke in just fine. I still have to change the break in oil, hopefully I won't find any glitter in there.

Pertronix units seem to take out coils after a while( about two years of to and from work driving), Had it happen to me twice.
The coils start to run real hot and then short out.
The first time it happend I had the coil still on the motor and could not tell it was overly hot.
The second time It was on the fire wall and when the motor started to drop spark and run poor the coil would near burn your hand to the touch.
