Big Chief going NHRA pro-mod racing
So will we get to see some Pontiac Power running out the back door at the NHRA Pro-mod level? We all know Justin is Pontiac but this article hints at other things. Will be interesting to see....

I know you say that in jest George but unfortunately, its true... Too date, There are no Pontiacs running 3.70's i, the 1/8 and 5.70's @ 250+ in the 1/4.... I believe justin may have been some 4.0's maybe some 90's and that's not going to cut it...

From the way the article reads it appears he is going to have a dare I say it BBC under the hood. Hopefully him and the Butlers can figure out a traditional Pontiac combo that can be competitive. Probably going to take a way better cylinder head and more cubes though.

Yes I know I was just saying.....maybe is stretching it but you get the idea.....a 350 E-head ain't going to get it done, if that was the case Jegs would be running e-head in his turbo car!

Don't take it personal.......point being 350 E-heads ain't going to get it done! Stop being hard headed. Like I said earlier Jegs don't have E-heads on his turbo pro mod.......that's the point!

How does his Standard port e-head 1/8th times compare in a door car to the 2 heads you mentioned George?

His car was at a chassis shop getting certified, sounded like it will not be Pontiac powered anymore, but I read that on FB.

If you listen to the Midwest street car pod cast Justin hinted at building another original style crow. Some of the big races have a no pro mod rule like the last cash days he was not able to race in because of that rule. I would bet the crow-mod becomes his professional race car (don't know if it will still be Pontiac powered) and he has another GTO that he will street race.

That class may be the NHRA's saving grace. Its really the only class that I enjoy watching anymore. Congrats and good luck sir!

NHRA will need to print more tickets.

I hope like hell it's a Pontiac under the hood and I hope like hell he qualifies, that would make some jaws hit the floor.
I guess I will ask those in the know on here, what are the big guns in that class running for HP, and wasn't his old combo over 3000, how far "off" was he? |

Who cares what motor he has under the hood how do you have ZERO!zip!zilch!nada! GRADE POINTS and you get into the U.S. NATIONALS how does that work?
Is he taking someone's spot that has been chasing it and doing it legally on a sanctioned track all last year and this year? Or are they going to call it a exhibition vehicle running with the pro mods?

Rumor from over 1 yr ago has it Butlers have been looking at the 4" stroke for some time now. 455 sorta makes sense in a weird sort of way...he is less likely to win but ci so much smaller makes him the underdog with less expectation of actually going faster than the other guys. Dont take it wrong guys I'd like to see him be competitive with a Pontiac, its just that its going to be near impossible. 75 cubes is a lot to give up especially with Pontiac bore spacing. |
